Stay Fit

May 8th, 2008 by Isak Ladegård

It’s hard to stay fit when you’re travelling around. The gym is far away and the deliciously unhealthy food stalls are just around the corner. The solution is to think different.

Tales From Nepal

May 8th, 2008 by Isak Ladegård

Yes, the great temples of Nepal are great memories. But small, crazy moments can be equally memorable.

I had to hang on to this rooftop for two long hours. The bus was packed and the roof was full of people and caged chickens and we were all terrified when we went down one of the heavily unsteady and rocky roads of the Nepali north. Or maybe it was just me.

The bus kept bouncing up and down, for each turn we were hanging on for our lives and I could feel the fresh blueprints of half a dozen of bruises. The driver ignored the BREAK and the BIG HOLES IN THE ROAD. Then, the almighty creator saw my misery and decided to punish me further. Take it all out on the non-believer!, he said, perhaps, as we were bombarded by hard drops of rain.

The driver ignored the thunderstorms and was apparently confident that he could defeat the weather.  After a while, a little boy climbed up to us, while we were bouncing like ever before and our bruises, now fully developed, were spreading like flue. We were continuously bitch-slapped by water, shivering, in state of terror, and apparently also in debt, as the cute little boy demands ticket fare. The sky is covered by lightning and we are laughing and crying and in deep, deep pain, and thoroughly happy to be in Nepal.
