Cool Spain and France 2008

Hi all,
Hope this thread finds you all well.

First time user of the site so any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am travelling to Europe late August/early September and need some guidance advice on where to go etc. Ill be in Spain for 7 days and the French Riveria for 5 days.
Any suggestions on places to go, accomodation (backpackers budget) ... im a young guy who loves the beahc and a cold beer so places with a bit of nightlife and good beaches if you know of any ...

Thankks in advance for any help
S.

I would suggest Barcelona in Spain (it's a big city with beaches and nightlife), Carcassonne in France (no beaches and not much nightlife but it is highly recommended for a day), Nīmes if you're there for the Feria. The Cote d'Azur (anywhere between St Tropez and Menton) is nice, but it isn't really noted for its nightlife and you would probably find better beaches at home.

agree
Barcelona 3 days
split the remaining 4 days in spain with 1 or 2 more cities

I liked Carcassone. If you stay in the Cite, you have the whole place to yourself at night. I stayed at Sidmums Travellers Retreat out in the boonies and that was awesome. I visited Avignon which as only OK....not a tonne to do beside seeing the bridge and the papal palace which was a snooze
