Default Norway,Sweden, Finland & Russia!

I have done a fair bit of travelling in my life, but hardly ever touched Europe, despite living in the UK!

Anyway, it sounds a lot, but from the start of August 2008, I am going to travel for 3 weeks across Norway, Sweden and Finland and then over to Moscow for the final part of the trip. A lot to get through, but i like to keep on the move.

I want to know if it's really easy top travel between these 4 countries by train and bus? Not really wanting to fly lots as it will be more costly and train is more fun.

My ideal plan is Oslo - Tromso - Stockholm - Helsinki - St Petersberg - Moscow. Obvsiously stopping in between, but I want to know is it easy to travel by anything other that plane?

I only have experience travelling through Sweden, but that was no problem at all. I know people who have travelled between the countries and have had no problems that I know of.

I really want to go back to Stockholm, what a great and beautiful place!

I've only been in Sweden and their train system is excellent. Check out scanrail for more information.

From Stockholm you can take the boat, Viking Line (www.vikingline.fi) or Silja Line (www.siljaline.fi), to Helsinki. The cheapest tickets with the smallest cabin are a bit more than 20 euro (Viking Line is normally a bit cheaper than Silja line), but it also depends on when you´re travelling, etc. The trip takes the whole evening and night (you´ll be in Helsinki the next morning), ´cause usually the purpose is to have a party on boat ( = to drink and eat well, listen to the (also live) music, dance, sing karaoke, etc.)...

From Helsinki you can take the train to St. Petersburg: www.vr.fi. The cheapest tickets cost about 50 euro, but by bus it´s of course cheaper (then it´s maybe better to google for the cheapest prices).

Hopefully this helped at least a bit. (=

If you live in europe you can go by interrail.
It's what i'm going to do when i go travelling, if you are under 25 a months unlimited travel is £300 if you are over 25 it's a bit more than that, £500, but thats unlimited train travel around europe on the train
Look at the website, you can also get time periods less than a montht
