Default What happens if you get caught?

Hullo, everyone!

Does anyone have any experience at all about staying longer than the 90 day period allowed for tourists in France?

I mean, like, the realize you stayed longer when you try to leave? And then, what? Can you get arrested, or jailed, or banned from forever entering again, or what?

The idea is so frightful that then, and only then, one might consider indeed staying forever...

Any comment will be duly apreciated!

From what I've heard you might get lucky and have nothing happen, or you might be barred from returning for a few years. That's based entirely on stories I've heard though. I haven't tested it myself.

If you don't get caught. But then again, that's just basing on what I heard too.

I called the Visa office and when I asked what happened to people that stayed for more then 90 days she replied "just dont do it"
so I dont know what that means but as long as you leave what is known at the Schengen Area before 90 days you will be fine. The 15 Schengen countries are: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Greece, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.
Im traveling for 105 days in Europe but 15 of them are in London, England and a few others are in non Schengen areas such as Hungry and Ireland.
That is if you are Canadian... Im not sure about Americans or non Canadians.

The schengen zone expanded in 2007. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schenge...implementation has a decent list.

With international relations the way they are I wouldn't chance your luck. On a lighter note though you may end up being barred from entering Europe and it could go on your record. I'm working off other's experience with America where they poked the dragon.

Default Don't overstay 90 days

You could be banned from the Schengen area for life. Think about what happens to Mexican immigrants in the USA ... jail/deportation/fines/never
being able to legally apply for citizenship. They don't want us there any
more than Americans want the border-crossers here. Follow their rules -
apply correctly and live happily ever after.
