any thoughts on rental phones in uk? I'll be travelling aroung for about a month in England and Ireland (republic). Any companies that can be recommended, etc.

Why waste money on renting a phone? Just buy a prepaid SIM card for £5 and stick it in your own phone. All you need is a GSM phone that isn't locked into your home network (if it is locked most phone shops in the UK can unlock it for around £10.
Rentals are overpriced. Organising something from home is even more overpriced.
