Many hostels in fruit picking areas will find work for you as they have contacts with farmers and run themselves a bit like an employment agency. However these hostels are among the worst hostels in the country so the standard of accommodation isn't so great. However there are a few good workers hostels like Berri Backpackers (SA) and Palace Backpackers in Childers (QLD).

Before heading up to pick fruit I would phone the hostels to see if there is work available. As long as there is work available (ie: as long as it's fruit picking season) then there should be no problem.

It is hard work but it can be a lot of fun.
