Question Hawaii and Fiji-Help?

Hi

Can anyone help me out on some advice on Hawaii and Fiji??

I'm a lady traveller on my own and have decided to stop off at Hawaii and Fiji in January/Feb whilst on my way to see friends in NZ.

I will be stopping in Hawaii for about 4 nights and Fiji for about 7 nights.

Firstly which islands in Fiji and Hawaii are the best to see in such a short period of time?

Does anyone have any advice on where to stay (hostels or any other budget accomodation!) or what to avoid and what are "must see" things (seeing as i wont be there for very long i want to maximise my time)?

I dont really want party style hostels as i'm there just to chill out "big time". I'm looking for somewhere that is clean and safe with helpful staff but that wont cost me a fortune to get to the cool places!

I'm kind of being swamped by advice of what to see and do (but most of it is not for the budget concious traveller!) and I need a concise guide book as there are to many out there- Any advice please would be gratefully received!

Thanks in advance!

Default help!

We're off to Hawaii first at the end of January then Sydney, Fiji, Raratong and New Zealand before coming back to the UK. Which means we should hit Fiji around 5th Feb! Any advice would be appreciated! Did your sister in law do any of the boat trips like Captain Cook or visit any of the other islands or did she just stay on Viti Levu? Thanks for your help.

Sofie

Default hawaii

hawaii is an amazing place but my favourite island is definitely maui. its beautiful and there are some great beaches, kaanapali beach is lovely and whalers village which is right there by the beach is great for shopping. i stayed in Lahaina which is pretty quiet but nice just to relax and chill out.
however it would be a shame to miss out on the other hawaiian islands as they all have something different to offer. Oahu is more commercialised and you would probably feel like you were in any other big city in the world but again the beaches and people make it so much more special. A visit to Diamond head is a must, the view from the top is spectacular. Oh and of course you have to go to a luau!it is so much fun and really gets you into the hawaiian spirit. hawaii is definitely my favourite place in the world and the hawaiian people are just so friendly, it really is paradise.

Default fiji in a week!

Hi there - very jealous you're on your travels - I've been back over two years now but still have itchey feet!

I spent around 3 months in Fiji in total and I would really recommend going on the fiji experience round the main island. It was great fun, you get to see lots and the staff are fab. If you go and your guide is called John say hi from me!!

It really was not only a mad week, I made lots of friends and enjoyed it that much that I went back to Fiji on my 2nd trip!

If there's anything else you want to know give me a shout!
