Have you stayed at the eco-lodge Beaconstone? I want to know!
If you've stayed at the eco-lodge Beaconstone, I want to know! I'm a Canadian working on a project about real green travel in New Zealand. Beaconstone stands out in my mind from what I experienced in NZ; I literally fell in love with the off-the-grid lodge, and the owners Grae and Nancy Stevens.
While so many travellers avoid the Westport-Charleston area, Beaconstone alone is a good reason to visit. I stayed way beyond my initial booking (I loved how guests' names are written on the chalkboard each night). It is an intimate space, lovingly built with so much consideration given to the natural environment. I believe anyone who experiences several days there is lucky; one night is simply not enough.
Mornings were my favourite; I sat at the long wooden bench tables, absorbing the quiet and 'breath' of the place. It was so serene, I was able to write a complete draft of a children's book there!
Again, let me know when you stayed there and what you enjoyed about it best.
Walk slowly,
Kirsty
