Sorry, but there ain't no ferries from New Caledonia to anywhere important!! You'll have to fly, but don't pay the full economy fare.....get in touch with a good travel agent. There are a lot of "package" holidays which make the flight a lot cheaper if you take accommodation as well. Even if you don't use the accommodation, the flights will be cheaper. Also, look into getting a Poly -pass, for flights taken in sequence around the polynesian islands.....I have heard on the grapevine that this is good value. See airlines in the region. Good Luck!
