Just a quick question... what would people reccomend for three weeks in NZ. Auckland to Christchurch or visa versa? We will be there in April so dont know if the weather effects it?

Many Thanks

Default Christchurch to Auckland

April is the warm weather and the begining of Autumn. The South island is colder than the North so my recomendation would be travel from South to North. Three weeks is sure to be a fast trip. My recomendations for a 3 week trip that gives you a taste of New Zealand would be this route. Christchurch - Kaikora (Whale watching)- across Arthurs ( awesome alpine scenery) pass to Greymouth on the West Coast (Goldmining, seal colonies, gemstones, lush rainforest)- Westport- Nelson (vineyards, sea kayaking)- Picton, cross on ferry to North island, Wellington (Te papa the museum of New Zealand, night life)- Marsterton (paua shells, glow worm caves, wildlife sanctuary)- Palmerston North - Wanganui (Whanganui River national park, arts, maori culture)- Raethi - Taihape (Gravity canyon adventure park)- Waioru - Turangi ( Tongariro national park)- Taupo ( adventure capital of the North)- Rotorua ( Thermal wonderland)- Hamilton (Waitomo caves)- Auckland. If you need any further advice please don't hesitate to ask.

Default A late reply: Go south to north

This is a late post, but other members might look in on it to get the same information. Go south to north if you are renting a car. Youi'll get a much better deal that way. More travellers choose the other direction and as a result rental cars pile up in Wellington and Christchurch and it costs big time to freight them home to Auckland. You'll often get a car for free fior a few days. I'm a rental car operatorand I recently gave away a car for two weeks just to get it home. Most other companies are the same. Shop around.
