Doesn't seem like there's much activity on this board, but I'll post just in case...
I'm very much hoping to go to NZ in Jan 2005 for 6-12 months. My first priority is to do as many of the fabulous walks as I can, but I want to also do wwoofing/fruitpicking/any farm work in between, and also throw in one or two mountaineering courses, skiing, etc., depending on funds of course. I don't really want to go alone as I'm not that experienced a hiker, though I'm trying to fit in as much before I go as possible. But if anyone's interested in doing the same, please get in touch!

Woofing is common. Since you plan on much activity make sure (in spades your) footware is suitable.Companions easily found via hostels you stay in. Or check other hostel boards in the area.Believe me keep luggage to barest basics. underwear and socks plus couple of tops and personal hygein stuff. Rest get on your travels.Weight you do not carry is long term benefit.
