Question

I plan to travel and arriving in New Zealand first week of April.

Would it be necessary to make reservation of hostel earlier or should I just go & look for one as & when I reach a destination?

Would appreciate any advice on the matter.

Thank you.

Kind regards
Sudyono

If you're travelling on your own it isn't too difficult to find a place with an extra bed although booking ahead is a good idea if you're travelling as a couple and want to stay in a double room or if there are several of you travelling together and all want to stay at the same place.

Even if you're travelling on your own, you may want to book a bed for your first night in NZ and then take it from there.

I would wait until you see the hostel - some of them do not look so good! At least you can go somewhere else!

That's why you check out the reviews on this bug website- they have good reviews which are generally accurate! We used them on our trip, and avoided all the dud hostels!
Happy travels,
doob.

I normally like to find a place when I arrive in town which is easy enough when you're travelling on your own. However there are plenty of good reasons to book ahead.

Sometimes, it's a good idea to book ahead if you've heard a hostel is really good and you have your heart set on staying at that hostel.
