I'd like to recommend visiting the Bay of Islands, New Zealand. It's a great place to visit, usually warm, great fishing and sailing, and beautiful scenery.
If you go around new year, make sure you book!
well there's some great seafood at the local restaurants but it's not actually permitted to sell locally-caught snapper (which is really really tasty ) so you really need to go out on a fishing trip. If you want to see some scenery and have google earth I'd recommend the bay of islands tour which will fly you over the islands and towns...
