If you're going to Airlie and/or Hervey Bay I would really recommend that you stay at Beaches. They are probably one of the best hostels around -really friendly staff, so helpful, v.relaxed atmosphere and you can also get accommodation as part of a package deal if you want to go to Fraser Island, do a Whitsundays sailing holiday etc. The hostel in Airlie is fun as it has a great bar and is certainly a good place to party! So is the one in Hervey Bay actually - the tables are set up for dancing on!! Good cheap food and great service. I can say all this as I an agent and have seen some of the other places too.
