Hi, can anyone tell me serious informations about some of these Hostels:
Cairns: Pete's Backpacker Resort (its a VipHostel), Mc Leods (Mc Leodstreet), Gone Walk about (Draper street)
Adelaide: My Place (also a Vip Hostel, Waymouth Street)

And did anyone knows if the Queens Court Hotel in Cairns is noisy? Because its directly beneath the Highway, and I think this won't be quiet...

In any case we (34 and 40) are looking for a quiet, clean and friendly house (with double rooms) and no party backpacker.

And at last, our last night we will have in Melbourne. We still have the car (we will give it back at the airport) and we search a hotel in Melbourne. Do you know the Victoria Hotel or the Kingsgate Hotel? both are not so expensive which is good for our budget..

Thank you for answering!

If you're looking for a quiet hostel in Cairns my recommendations would be Travellers Oasis, Dreamtime and Tropic Days.

Pete's has a good swimming pool and is relatively quiet. Gone Walkabout is also a quiet hostel and relatively clean. McLeod's is basic but clean and has a good atmosphere but it could be more of a party hostel depending on who else is staying there.

I don't know of the Queens Court Hotel.

My Place in Adelaide is a nice place.

Hi Tim,
thanks for your help. I read good things about Dreamtime, but they also wrote, that they have thin walls, do you know, if its "normal-thin-walls-how-to-find-in-the-most-hotelrooms" or do they mean "paperthin-walls"?

And when you write "relatively clean" do you mean its not really clean? (it's ok, when you sigh "Women"... ;o) )
Greetings
Patty

I've stayed at My Place in Adelaide and highly recommend it. Very clean and great atmoshpere. Good location and the pub nearby (Grace Emily) is excellent
