Hey all travelling people. I just want to warn anyone planning on travelling to Mission Beach QLD. I had a horrendous experience with the Beach Shack Hostel where myself and 4 other girls were evicted because we booked a white water rafting trip with a local information centre and not with them (therefore they hadn't made a profit from our booking!!!). They packed all of our belongings into our backpacs and into black bin liners and had left them in the reception area unsecure all day. Then we had to walk 1km into the resort centre to find some where else to stay with all the bags in the poring rain!!!
When we finally found alternative accomodation (Mission Beach Retreat, small and friendly with the best location right in mission beach centre) we checked our stuff and found that the contents of a rubbish bin was in amongst our things and that they had damaged 2 bags beyond repair.
The reasons for this eviction were totally unjust and eventhough the following day the manager apologised to 2 members of the group I don't want anyone else to have to go through this. So please be warned.
