Smile HOstels in Melbourne

Hello,

Ive just returned from a round the world trip and whilst in Australia i absolutely loved Melbourne. Its a brilliant cosmopolitan city, however i did have trouble finding a hostel which i liked.

I moved three times in just over a week!!! But it was worth it, i stayed first at the Elephant hostel opp Flinders st station which wasent really that friendly and had strange 1 bunk rooms where the walls didnt go up to the ceiling so you could hear everything everywhere.
The next hostel was Elizabeth st hostel funnily enough in Elizabeth street, this was run by a chinese family and was really disorganised.
The third and in my opinion fave hostel was called Lord's Lodge and is in the Prahan suburb. It's a 5 minute walk from the trendy Chapel street. The staff were great, the people i met there were great and the beds are soooo comfy and you get a proper duvet and pillow, if you need to use the duvet, although Melbourne's weather is so changeable you never know.
It was an easy 10 minute ram ride out of the city to reach the hostel and further down the line you have St.Kilda which is another great place.
The hostel is definately in a prime location though.
Laura
