Cool

Hi Johnny,

Fruit picking is really popular with a lot of backpackers.

I can't work out why, though! With few exceptions, most hostels in fruit picking destinations are a much lower standard than elsewhere in Oz, the work is hard and the money is nothing special.

Work is easy to find as long as you have a work permit. You can try asking around to get work in hotels, hostels, shops, pubs and restaurants although you it is best to work through an agency if you want a nice cushy office job.

Which agency to go with depends on what sort of work you do. Tell me what sort of work you do now (or what you are qualified to do) and I will give you a few URLs.

I worked in IT for 6 months in Oz about 18 months ago. Whilst the job market was buoyant then, mates out there tell me it's pretty flat. Most people who wanted work found it while I was there. Remember to take CVs (in electronic format), and phone numbers for references. The Sydney Morning Herald (www.smh.com.au) used to have loads of job links. www.jobnet.com.au is IT focused (and got me my jobs). There are loads of other ones - just search on yahoo. Remember there are a lot of entrepreneurial people out there who will just need good, honest workers to help them with startup stuff.

Good luck
