Ok! Feeling a little overwhelmed right now! Have booked flight to Melbourne, Oz at beginning of February 2005. Will be booking a hostel soon - will have to just get over cleanliness hangups - either that or carry disinfectant spray and pink marigolds - buwahahahaa!!

I want to stay there for 4-6 months doing work and enjoying the city etc. Errm, am looking for a place to share with someone, just a travel companion really for little ol' mee. Cos sharing with someone would work out cheaper if I know I'll be staying there for an extended amount of time....

My overall travel plan (pending changes!) is to stay in Melbourne for 4-6 mths, then go with Oz Experience to fly from Melbourne to Cairns then spend up until mid november travelling down to Sydney. Then going over to New-Zealand. Have loads to fit in before I turn 30!! Gaaaaaaaarrrgh!! (28 now!!) Know I will be staying in New Zealand up until end of August 2006. Birthday is in September you see - like the Earth Wind and Fire song. La-di-daaah!!

Check out the Green room in Melbourne. Flats are not as cheap as you would expect.Getting a room for extended stay can save you over regular rate.Green room hostel has good security. Electronic cards needed for acsess to rooms and building.Regular maintenance staff does housekeeping.Loocation is terrific.Get hostel/backpacker card so you get discounts when you check in.I met lots of hostelers and they were enviouse of quality The Green room hostel room provided.Bulletin boards for ongoing or local trips information.I seem like a jabber jaw but i enjoyed trip so much thought i would like to pass on some tips that can save you time and/or money i picked up.
