Hey all, my name i Torsten, iam 17 and turning 18 in July and i live in Perth, Australia. Me and my m8 are deciding to go backpacking around the East part of Australia and North after year 12 graduation for a celebration. The way we want to do it is we buy a Aussie Kilometre Pass for the greyhound buses around 15-20km's. We don't want to waste the kilometres from going from Perth to Adelaide so we will take a plane from Perth to Adelaide and then start using the pass. Something i didnt tell you is that we are planning to go for about 2-4 months.

There are a few questions i wanna ask, When would be the best time to acually see the East/North part of Australia like the Gold Coast, Cairns, Sydney, Darwin etc. What main equipment would be the best to bring? We wanna go see a few islands from Australia, like Magnetic Island, the Whitsundays, Fraser Island etc. We want to stay in a few main cities for a few days each like Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville, Darwin and so on.
With the Money (yes ive read a few articals already about how much money you should bring ect but they are usually for a year or so). How much would be enough for a 2-4 month backpacking trip, if needed we would get a job for a few days to get abit of cash. Hostels, how much is the average price for a alright hostel, i read around $25, is there any discounts like u stay for a week and you get a free day or something?

Thats all i can think of for questions ect, i got 1 year basicly but i would really like to get most of the stuff organized and planned out early so i can stop worrying about it at school lol. Thank you for your time to read this long post, i really appreciate it. Thx

PS. If you could give us a few good websites aswell that would be great! .

Keep in mind a night out will cost you minimum $4o.00 for evening as beer is not cheap at the clubs as well as entrance fees. Fast way to ruin your budget. Same goes for casinos. Takes all your money befor you realise it. So be careful

Default Auss trip

Your bank card for money is fine. Just make sure you check with your bank to see if valid. My Canuck bank card worked fine all over Australia. No need to carry lot of cash or even exchange it as you get what you need when you need it from local banks in Oz.Consider hostel stays for very economical lodgings.Check out the rail pass for all around Oz travel.Only good for major city to city though. No in between stops.Well worth it.GSR pass.
