Thumbs down wayoutback warning!

i just completed a wayoutback desert safari - definitely not recommended! despite their website (which i guess is filtered for all the negative comments anyway), the food was crap, the guide average and the buses unbelievably cramped and dirty. everyone in my group complained on the feedback form, but of course nothing was done. my advice - pay a couple of dollars more and go with someone else, it's worth it!!

I'm sure this response isn't typical of Wayoutback customers. I know that the comments on their Comments page come from real customers because I have filled out a Wayoutback tour feedback form myself. I, like everyone else on my 5 day tour, was totally satisfied by all aspects of the tour. Comparing notes with other backpackers later on in Adelaide, I think I made the right choice.

If you like to sit in a bus and be spoon-fed the usual boring tourist fare, maybe Wayoutback isn't for you, but if you are a more adventurous type who wants to get off the beaten track and out into the real outback, I would happily recommend Wayoutback.

I did a Wayoutback tour a few weeks ago and I really enjoyed it. I loved the knowledge of the guide, the food was great and driving in the 4WD vehicle across the dirt roads was heaps of fun!! While everybody else watched the sunrise on a parking place with hundreds of tourists around, we went to a spot where there were only few other people. The campsite was far away from everything and sleeping in swags under the stars was absolutely amazing! Their tour is not the cheapest one, but I would definitely recommend paying the “couple of dollars more” and going on a Wayoutback trip!!
