Default Security and your backpack

I know that there is now a new system for securing your luggage when you are travelling overseas (particularly to places like Bali). It seems to be a sort of glad wrapping process and is a bit of a environmental hazard - you just chuck it away after one use.
Does anyone have any other options to secure your backpack?

HI.
There r others security systems, that i believe r better..
You can get a pacsafe Security web.. And use it as many times as you need it.. And the cost is not that high..

Here you have the link!

The Pacsafe backpack protectors/security web is the most secure option when you're on the road and it is the only way to lock most top-loading backpacks:

If you're more concerned with ensuring that baggage handlers don't mess with your luggage you may want to look at tamper seals, like the Tampertell:

The glad wrapping process is something that is done by companies at the airport and it is not available at every airport.

Default back pack safety

thanks for the replies. I have checked out the websites that were suggested. My only concern with the whole pacsafe thing is the weight - looks a bit cumbersome?! I have checked out a couple of other options that seem to be coming out. Any opinions?

I had a look at the link in your last post. It seems like a good idea (there is also another company in Australia working on a similar product), however both products are still in the research stage and may not be available for a while.

Pacsafe's security webbing products are great but many people bring up the hassle of fitting it to your backpack all the time (it's actually very easy to fit, but it is an issue for a lot of people). Also the weight may be an issue if you're trying to pack light - it is a bit lighter than carrying around an extra guidebook.

However Pacsafe have a range of bags that have the security features built into the bag, which eliminates the cumbersome aspect of having to fit the webbing each time you leave the bag somewhere. All you have to do it lock it and leave it. There range mostly has small bags like hand bags and shoulder bags, but there is a duffel bag and a day pack. If you travel light the day pack (http://www.travelgear.com.au/mm5/mer...ry_Code=SECBAG) may be a good option. It is 25 litres, which is big enough for many people but a lot of travellers need something bigger. I'm waiting for Pacsafe to develop a secure top-loading backpack, once they bring this out I will definitely buy one.

See http://www.travelgear.com.au/mm5/mer...ry_Code=SECBAG for more information.
