Hi Guys and gals,
I know this post should be in the American section, but the European section will get more viewers.

I need to get some clarity about the canadian working visa. Im planning to go there this year, but looking into it, it seems very difficult. You have to first have a job offer before you can start to apply, and i mean, how many employers are going to wait for months before knowing that your application was sucessful or not?!

Im planning to stay with friends in Victoria and could probably get odd jobs for money under the table, but has anyone done this and what is the likelyhood of me getting caught?
Also, how long can you stay without a visa, is it 3 months?
The main difficulty is finding the job. I do have a 'skilled' profession that the canadian government require, but its trying to find a relaxed company to take the risk.

Is there anyone out there who has done this before, legally or....shhh, illegally, that could give me some tips and advice.

Much appreciatyed everyone

Acerace

If you're under 35 just go through http://www.bunac.org/uk/workcanada/
It used to only be for students but just a few months ago they opened it up for everyone. You get a 12 month visa and don't have to have a job lined up ahead of time. A friend just applied and is waiting to hear back so if you want to talk to him about specifics of the form or anything just let me know.

I was going to suggest BUNAC as well, but I wasn't aware that you didn't need to be a student any longer.

See this site for more information: www.canadarocks.co.uk

I will move this thread to the America section.
