Default USA Tourist Visa

Hi...i am going to America in September with my boyfriend who is working there for 4 months. His visa is sorted but I was refused a 6 month non-immigrant visa last week meaning I will only be able to stay for 90 days. However, I will be living right by the Canadian border. If I head into Canada for a weekend before my 90 day visa expires, will they re-stamp my passport with another 90 day visa when I re-enter the US which means that I will be able to stay until January.

Any advice gratefully received!
