Xinjiang/Tibet/Nepal Aug-Oct
Hi,
I am seeking a travelling companion who is interested in travelling in China from late-July/Aug to mid Oct.
At the moment, my plan is to start off in Beijing or Shanghai and travel by train to Xinjiang (a trip of around 3/4 days). My planned itinerary is: Xinjiang (1+month), Tibet (1 month), Nepal (2 weeks) and ending up in Northern India (I have a wedding to go to in Jodhpur) by around Oct 26th.
My main motivation for travelling is that (apart from visiting some amazing places for a holiday) I will be doing some documentary photographic projects along the way. My two main concerns are: first, the place of lamb in Xinjiang cuisine (anyone who has ever tasted the yangrou, say in Beijing, will I hope understand this) and one about the environmental effects of rapid industrialization in China generally.
You must be:
Independent
Patient
Comfortable with talking about life, the universe, everything and anything.
Moreover, you should know when not to talk (i.e. disturb the hallowed silence) and not be perturbed by being stared at, hassled, and unplanned/unexpected events.
You might in addition be:
Interested in social issues
A (perhaps budding) writer, journalist, film-maker or a (like me, a budding) documentary photographer. Failing any of these, just an interesting and stimulating person to travel and be with!
I have lived and travelled a bit in China before, speak a bit of Chinese and have a few connections, so the trip will not be completely new territory.
Thanks!
