Default hostel history ?

Hommage to Catalonia...read it...if not read it...by George Orwell : How did the Youth Hostel Father
"Père Aubergiste" of the Nice Youth Hostel (Mont Boron) for 20 years get to be mentioned in this book ?
I add sympathetically...Youth Hostel leader there in the 50's to 70's

If hostelling is just about sleeping... comfort more or comfort less, is the main thing....But if it's the whole experience for young and old Avignon Squash cum Hostel...there ain't another in the world like it...but here's a story indeed history.

The writer was a Fighter who had had his licence taken away after a MotorBike accident....so he took up Squash Rackets,by chance and travelled with a Racket to Avignon....he was asked, after 2 weeks stay, if he would help out...YEP !

at 2 am...yes A.M around 1984 (5 ?)a slight knock at the door and an elderly (70's to 80's) couple
exhausted...in the middle of the Avignon Festival when all accomodation was fully booked, begged entry...the place was archi full so I took their Passports...1 Bolivian and 1 Argentinian and gave them my small room. They spoke only German .I will no detail everything but just recount,..i was off for a week and read,in Paris that Mr & Mrs Claus Barbie, were arrested having clandestinely returned to Europe via Southern France...from South America.

who HE you ask ?...shame on you if you do not know....those he Murdered although dead...still remember him !...notwithstanding Avignon Squash is more an experience for life than just a Dormitory
and a fine one it seems still.
