I am in a similar situation. I am leaving for London on October 6, staying with a friend for a week, then heading to France. I am lucky because I will be staying with a friend there as well, but I do not have a lot of money and Iid like to stay as long as I can, make my way around Europe, and have some adventures!

I have a book called "Work your Way Around the World" and they mention that hostels will often employ backpackers. You can get free room and a small salary.

She mentions that campgrounds will sometimes employ people as well. For other work, she recommends you bring your resume with you (written in the language of where you want to work).

Best of luck to you!!! I wish I could help more.
