Question Finding Work?

Hey everyone,
I just people to share their thoughts and experiences of finding work in England.

I'm planning on being in the UK for 6 months, living, working and travelling.. but I'm a bit worried about finding work. I don't have much experience in pub type jobs- and though I've heard that's the easiest type of job to find, I'm just worried it won't be that easy.
I'm also worried about finding temporary and flexible jobs, as I've got the chance at free accomodation- but it's not in London, it's in Northampton, and I realise that severely lessens my chances.

Any experiences/advice?

i wouldn't worry about it too much, there are hundreds and hundreds of bars and pubs and cafes in every british town, and with northampton's university there is plenty of bars u can get jobs at even if its just glass collecting or giving out leaflets. obviously london or another large city like manchester is going to give you a much better chance you should get on fine.

Do I need to have any certifications to serve alcohol? In Aus we need an RSA (responsible service of alcohol).. would I need to get one to work in bars, pubs, etc?

I've worked in a Pharmacy, as a nanny and in a supermarket.

living costs are higher, but so is the wage! my opinion would be to go to agencies. they will be able to help you find the type of job you can do.

Default Find live-in agency work in the UK

Hi. try looking at care agency work. You get travel expenses, free accommodation and food and generally speaking no experience is required. They will do a background check on you. You can get agencies that offer just short term contracts. But please have a look at http://www.independent-care.com for further advice as you must do it properly. You can also safely post your own job profile on there for free. Hope this helps.
