Two of my friends and I are going traveling in June 07, after a few months in Asia we are going to settle down in Oz for about 6 months and hopefully work while we are there. Our plan is to save up around £7000 but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the usual budget for 6 months in Oz would be if we were working (something like fruit picking most likely)

hello. i went to oz in 2000 and i saves about £5000. i didnt work for the first 6 months. i'm sure that will be enough. unless your planning on living in style.

places to go fruit picking. Atherton lodge in north queensland. ( potatoes, bananas mainly) great hostel. met many friends there.

and another one is Berri backpackers in adelaide. the best hostel in Australia. it's like a holiday resort. they have tennis, vollyball, swimming pool, a patch for football, gym, and meditation room. it sounds crazy, but they do.

they have all kinds of fruit picking there! look up these places on the net.

they are many other places to work in oz but these are my favorite. stay away from innisfail!!!! its a dump.
