Backpacking in Belize http://www.bug.co.uk/forums/discussion/7059/backpacking-in-belize Thu, 11 Aug 2011 22:05:35 -0400 Trekker11 7059@/forums/discussions
Just a quick (but quite general!) question! I am volunteering in Belize next year, but will have a few weeks beforehand so will be travelling about a bit. This was going to be with my friend, but she has had to drop out now.

I am quite excited about travelling alone, but also a bit nervous! Does anyone know if Belize is a good country for meeting other backpackers in similar situations? My guidebook says that there are very few hostels with dorm style rooms, which is what I was relying on staying in in order to meet others!

Cheers!]]>
My experience at Nikki Beach Turks and Caicos Resort http://www.bug.co.uk/forums/discussion/5298/my-experience-at-nikki-beach-turks-and-caicos-resort Wed, 06 May 2009 10:43:56 -0400 Peter010 5298@/forums/discussions Nikki Beach was excellent; our personal assistant Beryl contacted us prior to our arrival for flight details so that she could arrange our limo airport transfers. The room was breathtaking with spectacular views of the ocean. That hotel is truly exceptional, and the restaurant Nikki Cafe, the bar area and pool bar had excellent service with bartender Garth. Personal assistant Chrystal and Zsa Zsa was excellent had great suggestions for activities and restaurants. If we go back to Turks we would definitely stay here again.

Nikki Beach resort turks and caicos was perfect. The service from our Personal Assistants was awesome and the view from our balcony was picture perfect. Most of our days were spent hanging out at the swim up bar in the infinity pool laughing with other guests. James our Beach Attendant was terrific keeping the mojitos flowing. Great location for the resort with a private dock to get dropped off after a day of snorkeling with Caicos Dream Adventure. The housekeeping service was amazing with the room perfect every time we came back from a relaxing day on the beach. A great 5 days ending with a killer party on Friday night. Special thanks to Madeline, Lavonne, Hudson and Ronald.

My name is Daniela and I'm Italian.

I'm about to finish university and I need to ask you something about backpacking, in order to work on my graduation thesis.

I prepared a little questionnaire, here it is: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dHpwdURFc01VZDF5MXpZY2I2cnhSeUE6MQ

Obviously, I would be glad if you could send it also to other backpacker friends of yours :)

Galapagos Volunteering Opportunity
"Lead-Adventures, the local experts in Quito that universities trust with their volunteer projects, offers a three-week, comprehensive volunteer experience in the Galapagos Islands. The projects that participants undertake are designed to restore the balance of the environment that is damaged by the tourist industry. By making this project available they bridge the gap for backpackers who would like to visit the islands and would otherwise pay twice as much for the same amount of time travelling. One week is spent exploring and working on Santa Cruz, the next discovering the beauty of San Cristobal, and the third is a week spent care-free on Isabela. The cost of the trip is 1590.00 with accommodation and meals included with the exception of the last weekend on Santa Cruz. They also can arrange round trip airfare for 420.00,extend the trip for two weeks, and co-ordinate Spanish classes in Quito. One month notice is required to arrange the details. LEAVING FOR LOVE?

TV Company seeks Brits who are going abroad to realise an overseas romance…

A new TV documentary is looking for Brits who are leaving the UK for an overseas love. Mentorn, one of the UK's leading independent TV production companies, is scouring the nation for long distance love stories that are about to become foreign affairs.

Executive Producer Rob Carey says: “Everyone remembers the film Shirley Valentine where housewife Shirley’s holiday romance turns serious and she decides to stay on a Greek Island to be with her Greek lover. Leaving for Love is looking for men and women who are about to move abroad to be with their overseas lover.”

The documentary will follow their adventure as they say goodbye to family and friends, pack up their UK belongings and set off overseas, to be reunited with their loved one and begin their new life. We are looking for people who are willing to share their experience, both the good times and the bad, and have their love documented for posterity.

If you are interested to participate in our programme or know of somebody else who might, please contact svonbentzel@mentorn.tv or call 020 7258 6920.

- How much money should I budget / would I need per day or week?

- What are the top 3 "must" places I should visit?

- I have the image that It is safe for me to travel alone there and that I don't need to worry about where I go. Is this true?
