Do you prefer travel companions? I don't like any companions at all. I am an adventures persons who wants to face every incident alone during travel. Sometimes it may be problematic. I prefer to travel alone or with my family.

I prefer travel companions, but if you're traveling a well known route you can usually decide to travel alone when needed, or join up with some other people. While backpacking India there was a pretty solid group of about 15 people that we (me and my permanent travel companion) would catch up with and then lose again during a period of a few months.

Having a travel companion makes it a lot safer, especially as a female. However it can be gruesome on long journeys when your companion is being a jerk, or you want to do different things. It's always best to be flexible, and if you and your companion are getting on each other's nerves, it's a good idea to hook up with another group so you can each spend some time with other people without abandoning each other. It takes the edge off :)

I love traveling with people. Not too many, 3 or 4 good friends. Of course you have to
compromise more but memories happen when you're with people you care about. Also
I'm too nervous to go out too late at night alone so I enjoy having a friend
    with me.
