We were booked into this place by the Oz bus and therefore assumed they would have picked us somewhere cheap. Wrong. We were hit with an almost $80 a night bill for a double room. The room was in an apartment shared with 4 other people which was good, but the room resembeled a prison cell!! It was bare to the point that it didn't even have a bin and there weren't even any sheets on the bed, they cost extra! I've paid far less money for nice en-suite rooms with Sheets!

We were kept awake all night by drunken louts and the management did nothing other than sneer at us. We left early, stayed happily at the Bunkhouse.

The hostel is in a great location in Byron, right opposite Cheeky Monkeys [if that's what floats your boat!] and a short walk to the rest of bars/shops/Woolies/train and bus stations. There is a small but nice pool, the kitchen is a decent size with plenty of storage and fridge space and facilities/pans etc. The room we stayed in - a 4 share, was adequate size and had a fan in there to stop you boiling! No lockers in the rooms. The showers/toilets were always clean... you had to walk through the common area outside to get to them though, so when you're sleepyhead, you might feel a bit of a div!! TV room available, but only used this to store baggage on our last day... Bikes and boards for free hire. Friendly staff and a travel desk to help with onward bookings/trips etc.

this hostel was friendly and in one of the best locations in the town. The staff were really helpful and helped us plan the rest of our time in Australia with their expert knowledge. Rooms were fine and our apartment was clean. what more is there to say?

I stayed in the Holiday Village for two weeks in November 2002 and then for two months from April 2003 because I just had to go back. The staff there are absolutley fantastic and very friendly indeed, especially the reception manager Canadian Rob! The weekly BBQ's are a must. Byron Bay is my favourite place in Australia and the Holiday Village is the best hostel I stayed in while I was there. Need I say more?

I stayed in one of the 6 person apartments here, which was fantastic. Although it works out as being a bit more expensive (approx $26 AUD per night) it's definitely worth it.

The free surf boards and mountain bikes were great (unlike some of the other hostels, the bikes had gears which were very useful when cycling up to the lighthouse) And being opposite cheeky monkeys was definitely a bonus - I didn't fancy walking a long way after that night out!

Really enjoyed my stay here. Hostel was clean and the showers worked (pretty important stuff!!). It's close to the shops, a quick wander away from the beach and well within stumbling distance of Cheeky Monkey's... trust me, you'll go there! The people that worked there were as helpful and friendly as you could wish for- the guy helped plan our itinery and booked all our Oz buses in advance for us (thanks Justin!!) Basically, well worth it!

Fairly average rooms and facilities but they do have free bikes and body boards for hire.

Byron Bay was a crazy place, Cheeky Monkeys especially, and it was so handy to be staying opposite it. The Holiday Village is sound, thye let you borrow bikes for free, the prices are ok too. The rooms surround an outside area. Not the greatest hostel ever, but comparable to any of the other pretty good ones.
