This was the recommended hostel for the IEP and I was quite disappointed when i got there. The staff was really friendly and helpful, nice kitchen area but there was NO CUTLERY and NO MUGS at all!!!

The rooms are ensuite but very dark and depressing unless you are staying in a corner room. I was there for 2 days and saw 2 cockroaches, one in the bathroom and one in the kitchen - a large one. I dunno, i just expected more. And its in a relatively seedy part of town, I wasn't feeling really safe even just outside the hostel in broad daylight.

Not the cleanest hostel I have ever seen. Dorms are small and difficult to move in when all beds are filled. Very basic facilities.

Kitchen good and kept semi-clean.

Hostel is a bit noisy but you would expect that from being so central. Good location if you have just arived in Sydney and want to be close to the nightlife although there are so many hostels in the CBD with cleaner and better facilities there is not really much need to stay at footprints.

This place is one of the worst places in Sydney to stay. We booked as a group of 6, and confirmed a room together, when we checked in we were split up and told "too bad". The staff at reception were rude and were only concerned about taking our money.

When we got to the rooms, they were filthy, and smelt awful. The bathrooms were just disgusting, with mould growing and signs that they had not been cleaned for weeks. Stay away from this one, their website is very deceiving, and nothing like the pictures. 100% awful

dont expect to get any sleep here there`s a 24hr pub round the corner people are singing shouting banging on doors after coming back drunk.if your about 18 years old you will have a great time the people who stay here know how to party!i had to catch a train at 630am so i was`nt impressed.the kitchen was dirty due to people not washing their pots

Great staff. They're really friendly and knowlegeable and can help you find activities to do in the city. The rooms were a bit dark, but since it's in such a great location, there's so much to do that you really don't spend much time in the room. Rooms and bathrooms were clean though. A bit more expensive than other hostels but well worth it.

I arrived expecting to stay a couple of nights and a couple of weeks later I left smiling. Best staff ever, really friend crew of locals and backpackers. The facilities were good but really this place is all about the atmosphere...

Do youself a favour stay at Footprints and you'll make friends and see the bits of Sydney that you dont read about in the guidebooks. The bits only locals can show ya.

PS most of the posts here are written by the staff from the hostels not by real travellers..

Very overrated hostel - small common areas for the number of people and free breakfast is toast and there weren't enough plates. Careful with your booking - we booked over the net to arrive on 5th for 2 nights when we got there they had us down as checking in on the 7th even though i had printed proof otherwise. Don't leave anything on the floor as you risk having the cleaners take it and you'll never see it again. Not particularly clean, very dark - very ordinary.

I stayed at Footprints and went to their Grafitti Party. I had fun, there was free beer, what more could a poor backpacker ask for. PARTY ON GROOVERS...

Who said that theis place was good?

the rooms are all old and tired, they may have en-suite bathrooms, but you don't want to use them.

The rooms are dark, with the windows looking into a brick wall.

My advice, is stay away.

I thought that this place was meant to e good. The facilities were nothing to write home about and the staff were very rude and stand offish. It felt like like we were there for their amusment. This place is completly over priced and I would not recoment it to anybody.
