i had been living in brisbane for a couple of mounths and a couple of the best nights i had were in this place once you get talking to people it is fine.

it has everthing you need not the biggest kitchen for a place this size but the roof garden and of course the bar are great and surprisingly quiet, i recomend it if even to go there for a couple of nights while getting use to brisbane and want to find someting more suited for your self.

theres really nothing wrong with this place.

I have stayed in a lot worse .

Plus points clean ,staff seem friendly and welcoming and its central.

but fairly expensive for brisbane, never actually found the showers in 2 days, the lift kept trying to decapitate me and the only communal areas were tiny which meant the only place with any room to sit down is in the bar which was fine but still.

One of the most infamous hostels on the east coast thanks to the reputation of the Down Under Bar downstairs. If you want a hostel which will party till late this is the place. Other that that its a large, impersonal but clean hostel in the centre of the City.

This hostel had the best facilities of anywhere I stayed. Anything you needed was there on site. It was also clean, centrally-located and good for finding work.

It has good wheelchair facilities - including disabled bathrooms.

There is a common room on each floor, and a large equipped kichen.

However, I do think that the Palace is best suited to people travellling in groups and pairs. It's such a big place, that it's not easy to meet people, as in other hostels. I was on my own, and feeling a bit homesick. The slightly impersonal feel of the Palace didn't improve things much.

However, it was nice to stay in such pleasant surroundings, and after a week, I joined the job search, and immediately found work and a car share up the coast.

The bar, the bar, the bar. Yeah it's big. But it's pretty quiet as well. Well, after 3am. Everyone sleeps all day waiting for another night of specials in the bar. Brisbane was outside? Was it?

The Palace is a great hostel for its size, offering all the facilities and creature comforts that you need. The best thisng about it was it's central location to Brisbane and information provided for things like air travel, tours, and genrally getting things done. I found the guys at the counetr really helpful and fun.
