Thanks guys for such a great stay, reception, bar staff were great help and housekeepers kept the place ship/shape. Facilities great, kitchen a bit small but the cafe always had great deals. Would definately recommend Tinbilly's.

We stayed here for 3 nights but wouldn't have stayed 3 minutes if it wasn't for there no refund policy. Cheap dorms for 13 end up with at least 16 many of whom were staying long term and had their crap all over the floor. We almost ended up sleeping with rucksacks on beds. Ensuite bathrooms...what a joke!!! Absolutely minging both room and ensuite never seen a cleaner. Corridors stink of baby sick!! Kitchen tiny, filthy, food gets nicked and greeted by smashed pots all over floor one morning. All in all a filthy stinky hostel. If, as advertised it is supposed to have been purpose built it should be knocked down and built again!!!

A great place to stay, MUCH better than The Palace. We stayed there for 3 months in a quad share. Prices are reasonable if you use a voucher found in TNT. You get a free drink on arrival and further discounts at the bar. The rooms are very modern, clean and fresh and you actually get duvets. The air-con is amazing (ask for the remote from reception if its too hot/cold). Theres a large common area with a TV, vending machines and phones on various floors, a job club and a tour desk. The reception is 24hrs and the staff have always been friendly and helpful - if you check out after 10am you wont get your key deposit back, but that's not their fault. Its all security swipe carded, including your own personal safe in your room ($1 per day) and the rooms get cleaned everyday. The bar is all new and clean with friendly day staff and it's a good place to START your evening off - it never gets too busy apart from fridays after work. You do have to balance all these good points with the fact the kitchen lacks decent cooking equipment and they've been promising to get the air con fixed in there for 3 months or so (it was too hot to cook in at times). And that's about it - apart from if you are going to use the vouchers from TNT mag, don't forget to claim your free t-shirt with your weekly payment.

Chose to stay in this hostel as it is right near the Roma transit centre, which is great but the hostel is disappointing. The air conditioning is FREEZING, the kitchen is far too small for the amount of people and too hot, as is the common area, the staff lack in customer service. The worse part was the rooms, I stayed in a 7 share with an ensuite which was far too small. The room was just full of beds there wasnt ANY space for backpacks and certainly not 7 people's packs. It appears that this hostel is relying on the fashionable colour scheme and the bar downstairs, whilst packing people in like sardines.Saying that, the bar staff (Cieran and co) were brillaint!!

Well, its certainly slick and new (mostly), but there are a few major problems. Look, if you're in town for a holiday you'll probably be fine, but those of us who are used to travelling and have an idea of how hostels should operate, there are a few grating issues:1) The kitchen. This is the one that will get most people - for a huge hostel its tiny (one sink!) and its disgusting. The staff will no doubt claim that its the backpackers who are making it dirty (and it is) but its because its too small and most people just want to get in and out. Also, if they had a deposit for cutlery instead of just being in the cupboards over the sink, people would wash up as it would be their own that they're washing.2) The bar. Nice enough, but it gets filled with pervy locals out to score some easy backpacker. My advice: go to Fortitude Valley to some real bars.3) The air conditioning. Of course, its a nice touch that they give air-con in each room, but its only got two settings: boiling or freezing. I'm serious.4) The staff are a bunch on numb nuts. Typical corporate-culture dickheads, they are totally computer dependent without knowing what they're doing at all, too busy are they trying to look cool. I got denied my key deposit as the person checking me in hadn't entered it into the system. Thanks guys! Plus the older guy Peter, who I guess is in charge, couldn't give a shite about the guests - beware if you try and complain to him!All of this would be fine if you weren't paying through the nose for it.Travellers would be much better going to any of the other hostels in the over-saturated (and apart from Tinbillys, easily affordable) Brisbane hostel market.

I stayed this hostel a few nights, and I really liked its clean and bright room, own modern bathroom in each room, nice location and nice people staying there. I would have given 5 stars if I had not seen other rooms...My friends room did not have ANY windows, and had dirty bathroom unlike my room...maybe it's because my room was girls room and his room was mixed..., Also he was very angry that we paid SAME rates, which was $27!! So, all I can say for this hostel is, if you are a lucky person, you will definitely like this hostel!

Tinbilly is modern, big and friendly. It provided the best backpackers facilities we experienced; close to the main train station, close to shops, has a bar,24 hour reception, excellent security, lifts, internet (expensive, but there's a much cheaper internet lounge just around the corner opposite train station!), vending machines and a kitchen and TV area (not as small as others we've been to by far). I certainly recommend this hostel, we stayed for 2 weeks and met some lovely people, including the staff.

Stayed here for 3 days in August. The hostel is new and modern with ensuites in every room. The 8 bed dorm had plenty of space even when full. The common area was very small for this size of hostel and the dining area is practically non-existent; only a few stools set up at a counter. The kitchen is large but continuously dirty except for the 20 minutes immediately after cleaning. The hostel seems to attract groups of friends and the lack of common areas makes it difficult to meet people. Good location near coach station and 10 min walk to downtown shopping area.

The previous comment is a bit exagerated (except that it is expensive -25$-) and does not reflect the quality of this hotel. Of course, if you are looking for a party place, you will be disappointed. But this is a hostel, and one could even say a real hotel (and I think you'd better consider it like that). It is not a holiday resort which is meant to entertain the guests, it is a place where you find accommodation! You spend more time in your room, and the common areas (kitchen, dining area, laundry) are quite small, not really meant to be used a lot. But it is a nice place, with modern rooms, cleaned daily, air conditioned, with security entry cards and safety lockers in the rooms. Each room (4 beds-dorm) has ensuite bathroom and toilet. There is no complaint to make about the "sleeping facilities". It is well situated, not far from the center, and if you wish to party, the bar/restaurant downstairs is one of the most busy places of this part of the city.
