Friendly and conveniently situated hostel, March 8, 2006

I stayed at the Travellers Oasis's on its first day under new ownership and had a great 3 day stay. The hostel is conveniently located for shopping, having a beer, transport or anything else you would wish for. There was a warm welcome from the new owners Gabriel and Cathy (who also run the Tropic Days), and even on their first day, the hostel and rooms were clean and well maintained, the swimming pool inviting and plenty of space to relax at the end of the day. I went on two excursions including a trip to the great Barrier reef as recommended by the gabrial, and couldn't fault either. If i return to Cairns this is where i will be staying again.

Despite both a cyclone and a less-than-honest dive company (avoid Down-Under-Dive!), my trip to Cairns in April 04 was great, with many thanks to Mark and Renae at the Travellers Oasis. I ended up stayingwith them for the better part of two weeks. I had the intention of changing hostels, but ended up coming back to the Oasis because of the location, accomodation, price, and, most of all, the hospitality shown to me by Mark and Renae. Whether it was a free ride to the airport, frank advice on anything and everything local, or a discounted room, these two definately helped save my trip. If I am ever back in Cairns, I will for sure stay with them. Awesome place and people!!!!

I can not begin to try and put in to words how amazing my 9 weeks at the Travellers Oasis was - but i'll try.... Mark is an absolute dimond, helpfull, friendly, kind, generous, laid back, willing to bend over backwards for you and try and help you in anyway possible. Renae is also a gem, funny, friendly and willing to help. The hostel itself is great, beautifully decorated with murals, clean and in a great location to the mall and main centre. As a female travelling intially on my own, this hostel with the help of Mark made me feel safe, secure and truely did become my home away from home! THANKYOU!!

I have just returned from a trip to Oz, and can definitely say that Travellers Oasis was the very best place I stayed. It is clean and REALLY comfortable, but most of all, Mark makes you feel at home there. He is super friendly & helpful, and shows genuine interest in his guests. It was fun to come in to the office and share the day's events with someone who would listen and laugh with me, especially since I was travelling on my own. I would HIGHLY recommend this place, particularly if you're looking for an accommodation that is fun, but not loud or full of young partiers. Mark & Traveller's Oasis will always be among my very favorite memories of Australia.

This was THE best place we stayed at in Australia. You can book anything you want through Mark and get good advice and local tips.The hostel is extremely clean and comfortable. There are a couple kitchens if things get crowded, although they never seemed to. The patio and pool are relaxing, the location is close to city/trains/groceries, and, as everyone else has said, Mark makes it a really welcoming, friendly place. This hostel got one bad review and I can only think they got it mixed up with another place. We loved it here! Thanks for everything!

This hostel was the best hostel I have stayed at. The atmosphere was wonderful. The hostel is layed out so you meet people, which is a nice change from the larger hostels. The staff was very helpful. Mark and Renae are always willing to help out when planning a trip or offering you a ride. They make you feel at home. The facilities were also very clean, especially the kitchens and bathrooms. The rooms were spacious and all had fans. It was also in a prime location, being only a few minute walk into town and right behind Cairns Central. I would suggest this hostel to anyone looking for a good time and good company. Thanks Mark and Renae for such a wonderful time:)

Traveller's Oasis is an absolute dream come true!! The hostel itself is clean, comfortable, and extremely relaxing. The staff- both Mark and Renae- are extremely helpful and informative. They also make it a point to not only know your name, but to actually take the time to get to know you. How nice is that when you're thousands of miles from family and friends?!! I actually lived at the hostel for just under three months and could not have thought of a better place to call home while I was in Cairns. Trust me, you'll be glad that you decided to stay at Traveller's Oasis!

I stayed at this awesome hostel for almost a month and highly recommend it. The atmosphere is so relaxing, the rooms are nice and clean (no bunk beds) and the pool area is just lovely. It's perfectly located as well. Next to the Cairns Central and only about 10minutes from the Esplanade. Mark, who runs the hostel is simply great. Once you told him your name he won't forget it anymore and he solves every problem for you, helps you wherever he can (e.g. organising trips), gives you discounts for tours and courses and makes you feel home. When you stay here it's hard to leave again and all in all i just had a really great time here.
