We turned up at Travellers Oasis a couple of weeks ago having read some glowing reviews on this site. We were looking for somewhere friendly, quiet and relaxing.

It's a really nice feeling when your (high) expectations are exceeded.

We were greeted upon our arrival by one of the nicest guys I've had the pleasure of meeting (Mark), who has continued to amuse and help us on a daily basis.

Having booked an expensive diving trip on the reef (with lots of unbiased help from Mark), we had to lay-low and save some cash for a few days. It was an absolute pleasure to lounge around at Travellers Oasis.

A couple of friends were heading into Cairns last week, so we recommended Travellers Oasis. They called ahead, but found it was fully booked - certainly testament to the quality of this place and the power of word-of-mouth !

If we find other places like this on our travels round the world we'll be happy bunnies !

Sour faced staff, dirty cotton buds, broken glass and soiled knickers on the pathway was our greeting. This place was like a prison. If the staff had been abit more friendly all might have been forgiven - we did try to make them smile. THis place is not in the spirit of travelling. Do yourself a favour and give this place a wide berth.

This hostel is great if you are looking for something to help escape the touristy feel of Cairns. Located just out of town it's far enough away to create a relaxed atmosphere but close enough to walk to the shops, bars and lagoon. The rooms are really clean, there is a small pool and the setting is great. A very friendly hostel, well worth the stay. I've been back 3 times now.

This hostel made me feel very comfortable as it was nice and quiet. The rooms are very spacious with 4 beds in it (no bunk beds). It is about 5 min. into the city centre and 10 to the Esplanade. The kitchen is rather old but ok, so are the showers and toilets. It is not a party place and the guests are not the very young travellers. I appreciated the shopping centre across the street very much. It is quite easy to book tours in the reception and the staff is helpful if there are any questions. Internet is free during reception hours (7-12, 16-20) but not accessible when reception is closed. The price for a dorm bed is not $18 but $20.

This is the best hostel I stayed in on my month-long trip! Traveller's Oasis is small, quiet, and friendly. Mark is incredible--he immediately knows everyone's name, is gives great advice about where to go, what to see, and how to save money doing it. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the backyard garden is a beautiful place to spend an evening relaxing. I'll be back!

Thanks Mark, for a great time and wonderful hospitality.

This is certainly the place to be to relax, meet great people and enjoy lifes' pleasures. A great location, on a quiet street minutes from Cairns town centre. There are so many trips to go on you'll need a week to make the most of cairns and this hostel. In a nutshell the best place to be in Cairns. Keep smoking that pipe Mark.

Travellers Oasis is the best place for any backpackers who want to stay in a cheerful, friendly and relaxing envirnoment. Mark, is extremely helpful. Whenever you are not sure about something, simply ask him and he will solve it out for you perfectly. He can also remember every name of the people staying there, so you will be greeted personally whenever you met him. Being situated in a nice tropical garden, every morning you will also be greeted by the sweet songs of the birds.

We stayed here for a week, the hostel is clean, quiet and excellent value for money. The owner, Mark is a top bloke and SO helpful, there are so many tours to choose from that we felt it was a minefield and that's where Mark comes in, he gives advice on the best ones and I would have to say that his advice is the best there is! The hostel has a pool, laundry and brilliant kitchen facilities! We would stay here again if we were ever passing thru.

I will definetly be recommending the travellers oasis to friends and family and go away with everlasting memories.
