I really enjoyed myself at Cape Trib Beach House. The basic dorms were very clean and good enough for me - and the share kitchen was as well. However, we wish we could have been forewarned to bring all our own food, as the hostel is located quite a walk from any grocery store, and the restaurant is incredibly over-priced. However, we were forced to eat there! The food was good, but for backpackers, paying over $10 a plate isn't feasible. That would be my only concern though. The beach is beautiful, the location is beautiful, and the facilities are excellent. The staff also provide lots of helpful information on tours and activities in the area. I would visit again!

I travelled up to Cape Trib. Beach House with my two children aged 11 and 12 in August 2001. We were impressed immediately we arrived by the helpful attitude of the staff. Our room was clean and adequately provisioned. The pool was clean, my only criticism was the lack of adequate seating in the dining area. Located amidst the rainforest we were completely surrounded by unknown creatures and plants, the rainforest was never quiet with fruit and nuts crashing to the ground. We saw several snakes, goannas, a variety of birds (large and small) and bush pigs. The beach adjacent to the hostel was clean and comparatively empty although not safe for bathing (Salt water crocs abound in this area). Whilst staying here we visited the Bat House and wandered for miles down rainforest tracks. Probably our most enjoyable experience was the Night Safari. All in all a great place to stay, relax and experience at first hand the beauty and diversity of the Daintree region
