Dirty Rooms , weak bar .. and Bed Bugs. Everyone in my room (including myself) got bitten at least 40 times which really sucks. Stay somewhere else like the beach house.

this review covers not just koalas hostels but thier packages... i found thier services to be verypoor, everyone there was extrememly disorganized,i even had my c. card charged two times for thepackage. our fraser island trip was a disasterwith a broken down car and an extra night spent onthe island with no food... and they did absolutelynothing in the way of apology or compensation forthe missed buses, messed up trip, etc. it washard to even get the time of day of the manager,even though we had serious problems andcomplaints. since no one at the company hasseemed to care, i thought i would spead the wordto other backpackers, there are SO many othercompanies out there, do NOT use koalas.

Stayed here and wasn't really impressed the dorm mattresses were stained, the kitchen lacked sharp knives, you had to pay a deposit for everything, and the bar is dead. There are cheaper, friendlier hostels in Hervey Bay, I say stay at the Palace and party at Beaches!

Fine time here, for only $1 extra you can stay in a 3 person room, with better facilities. There is a bar, swimming pool (cold if you get in during July!), and lovely surroundings. The staff are good, and they will pick you up and drop you off at the bus station, and organise trips. Can't go wrong really.

After staying in koalas at Airlie beach I was very disapointed with the standard here. The rooms were a bit of a con for what you got. We paid $53 for a double, a bed and a mirror, which you had to walk though a dorm to get to. The dorm was grim, the beds dirty and the bathroom door did not lock properly. All in all we only stayed a night and thankfully went elsewhere.

I stayed here and it was great fun. The rooms were nice and clean, but the main thing I liked it for was the staff, they were really helpful and friendly. They organised my Fraser Island Trip which was sensational - really was the highlight of my travels in OZ.
