i decided to go and try out one of the other hostels in surfer's and it was a big mistake trying this one. the staff were un helpful the manager didn't seem to put any effort in improving the quality of the hostel. i would not recommend staying here if you like a friendly eviroment
|

backpackers was cool but we got trapped into paying up front for a weeks accomadation and regretted it!. i nearly went mad in surfers.. luckily we got on with a guy who worked there and he drove us around and stuff. but watch out for those canadian workers, girls, they're SHOCKING!

Was quite dissapointed when I arrived in Backpackers in Paradise, the weather outside was quite cool however due to the really bad ventillation inside the rooms, it was absolutely boiling inside which made it so hard to sleep, the beds were squeaky and small, you couldn't sit straight on the bottom bunk. The rooms looked clean but had a dirty feel to them, the bathroom was small, looked dirty, some windows were missing (lack of privacy as the neighbouring building's windows looked straight into our bathroom), we saw a total 2 cockroaches, one huge one in the bathroom and a small one crawling on the wall near the beds. The pool was nice and clean, the shop was nicely stocked with all things necessary, the cafe was relatively priced and had good food but were really stingy with the bacon. Onto the good things, the location is excellent, a short walk to the beach, Surfers Paradise Transit Centre, bus stops to Theme Parks, Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, Australia Fair Shopping Centre and the Gold Coast Airport in Coolangatta, is very close to the shopping strip, bars, cafes and restaurants.If you're not spending much time sleeping then Backpackers In Paradise is a good cheap place, other than that I'm sure there was a better place nearby for the same price.

We stayed 2 nights in this hostel only because everywhere else was full & we couldn't get a refund.Paid for a twin room, were put into the most filthy empty dorm we've seen 30 or so hostels later! cockroaches, the bathroom stank, was mouldy just horrible, lockers- ah yes cockroaches liked these I found they could be removed from the wall! Twin room imagine my surprise when 2 more people checked in2 our room on the 2nd night- no refund on the twin rate just told we needed to talk to the phantom manager! The door was a bit hard to open fron inside the room(to get out this is not good) so imagine being 3 nice lads been woken~a yell of let us out! Yes our 2 room guests missed their bus because the lads next door had to kick open the door from outside! Saying that the people were nice except the 2 witches we had to deal with and we had 2 wicked nights on the piss and tanned ourselves on the beach I mean who'd want to stay in a room when the entertainment is cockroaches crawling around your stuff- honest it was that bad~ the pool did seem clean but then cockroaches can't swim!

this place was no good, termites everywhere, a green pool and the staff had no idea about the area of surfers. The beds were lumpy and worst of all the bar was understocked. SHOCKING
|

I've been in Traveling for seven months and never have I stayed at a hostel with such an amazing, layed back atmosphere. The managers and staff were always friendly and most helpfull; they really knew Surfer's and surrounding areas. Each dorm has an ensuite and lockers; internet, kitchen, laundry, and pool tables, on site shop, and cafe are available for use as well. Every night of the week, there were movies played on a huge screen projector in the bar area. And a different nightclub to hangout at with free drinks seven nights a week. The pool is beautiful.....and CLEAN! The place is always crawling with party hard travelers. If I were to head back to Surfer's, there's no doubt where I would stay.....I had a BLAST!

went there and stayed there for a week and it was a great place... very clean and friendly staff.... looked really cool from the outside and had a bar, tv room, pool tables everything you could ever need and every night there was some kind of party thing going on... so there was always someone to party with.... a great place to go and stay highly recomended especially for the price
