All I have to say is that this is by far the best place to stay in melbourne, the whole of australia even.I have been here for six months and have had the most amazng time. In no other hostel will you find such an assortment of people as you do here. and even better than that...everyone get's along. Sit around the kitchen table for a few hours if you've got nothing to do and i guarantee you will have a group of twenty going out that night with you. There may be problems like sometimes the cleaners go mad and decide not to clean anymore, but it doesn't happen so often to make this place a dump like some have said. those people who don't like it are probably losers anyway who annoy people or get kicked out. Love all nations......

I spent five months in All Nations and I loved it. Sure it's not the cleanest place in the world but it is friendly. I love the staff there and the fact that you can do work for accom (saved me lots of money). I had loads of fun in the bar - many many hours spent in there. OK, so maybe you won't like All Nations if you're only staying there a few days but you'd be surprised at the amount of people that end up staying for months...

I stayed in this hostel for two weeks back in 2002. Yes it is situated in a bit of a handy place and yes it is cheap if your funds are limited but I wouldn't recommed this place if not. Its a bit like staying in a rundown old hotel with too many people and definetly too many stairs! The beds were old, the rooms are shabby and the hallways very dark and uniniviting. The staff were helpful and it handy to have a bar bext door but this fails to detract from the overall gloominess of this hostel. I was glad to leave for friendly climes.

Man, that place is... lacking, at best. An unbelievable place, I thought I could tolerate the dingy, 40-watt bulb lit bedroom, and then I stepped into the bathroom... Enough mildew in there to make me forgo the shower for a couple days. Nasty.

Long story short: messy, smelly, dirty hellhole with rude staff and an arsehole manager. If you choose to stay here (???!?), pray you don't have any problems, because you're not going to get any help. RUN. RUN WHILE YOU STILL CAN.

i wouldn't stay here nor reccomend it, staff were ok but hostel was dirty, bedbugs in my room, toilets stank and the noise from outside was intolerabel, trams, cars and trains rattling by all night. it was like Jake Elwoods bedroom in Blues Brothers.

I had the misfortune of spending a week here, including New Years Eve 2001.Incompetent and rude staff, small, smelly rooms, and what seemed like toilet facilities that had never been cleaned. Urine on the seats, brown smears on walls, you get the idea. It was close to the trains, making it one of the noisiest places I stayed.On the plus side, they did provide free bread and cakes (probably day old bakery left overs) which was a nice idea. Just make sure you get there before the other scrotes do and wipe their hands all over them.

It had more atmosphere then most of the other hostels I've stayed on the east coast. Bar was fun and room was clean.

This place is dirty, smelly and noisey. The staff overbooked the hostel every night we were there and dished out the rooms on a first come first served basis. If you like wallowing in your own filth, go for it. If you have any self respect, stay away!!!!

Well I had great time at this place. Booked only 3 nights and stayed 2 weeks! Could not belive how cheap it was,when other hostels where $4 more per night.
