Very good hostel right in the heart of Salzburg. The people were friendly, the place was secure, the beds were comfortable, and the rooms were tidy. Couldn't really ask for more

We stayed in a twin-room one weekend, in the end of February 2005. Everything was very clean and comfortable, almost the greatest bed I`ve ever sleeped. The staff was also OK, friendly and helpful. The bar was great- super beer and schnitzels, and really good prices and atmosphere. Yes, the breakfast is not so big, but I was happy to get a free cup of coffee in the morning.

This month, we`re going again, with a friend of us.

* Pros:

Good location.

Bar where travellers can meet

Near Shakespeare´s bar: stylish and not expensive bar where you can surf the net for free.

* Cons:

You are only allowed to one free 5 minutes hot shower per day .

When I was there hot shower didn´t work

In my room we were waken up roughly by the staff at 9.00 AM asking whether we would stay one more night (the check out time is at 10.00 AM).

A bit expensive

Breakfast not included

not alot to find fault with at the YoHo.

Fun bar, nice and clean, not the comfiest beds or biggest rooms but by no means the worst either. Friendly prices too.

Salzburg is a beautiful city, well worth a visit even if it is just for a day.

I had the BEST time ever while staying at this hostel in Salzburg. Even if you have unsocial room-mates like I did you can find willing drinking partners in the fabulous YOHO Bar. Yes the reception staff aren't the friendliest people in the world - but get over it and go get yourself a Stiegl! I found this hostel extremely clean and the shower time is more than enough even if you are a princess who need to shave, exfoliate and wash your hair! The only thing I think is wrong is that they charge you every time you want to open your locker - which is a bit of a rip-off. Also they only play the Sound of Music once a day - at 1030 when most people interested are on the tour or out sight-seeing. But apart from that - this is THE hostel to go to to meet fun people!

Stayed here for several nights in January 2004. Dorms were huge and spacious, although sex segregated. Showers are 50c each, although you get a token for each night you stay. Having said that, the showers only last 6mins, so be warned that if you want to spend a longer amount of time in there, youll have to fork out your own money.

The hostel was nice and close to the train station, heaps of cheap restaurants, the old town, the bus etc. Couldnt ask for more.

Happy hour is great, and the food served at the bar is fasntastic. The beer hall is a popular spot for most weary travellers to migrate to after happy hour finishes.

The staff were generally over worked we thought, however, went out of their way to help us.

One word of warning...thoroughly check out the tours on offer. Sometimes it is a hell of a lot cheaper to do the exercise yourself, rather than paying someone to take you.

We paid 32 euros for tubing. Found out when we arrived, it costs 13 to do it yourself plus transport. Upon reading the walls of the chicks toilets, many have experienced the same.

All in all, i will be back here in flash, purely because of the fasntastic people that I met while staying here.

Downside was that youre not supposed to BYO food in to the hostel as they have a kitchen which only serves food some nights, depending on how many people aer in the hostel.

Do not go to the zoo.

Finally, i think the 2nd fllor is being redone soon, so it will be a brand spanking new hostel. 1st and 3rd floor toilets are awesome.

Not the nicest hostel I stayed at in Europe, but it served its purpose. The staff seemed rather rude, but the meals were quite good. The bar/eating area was packed, everyone sits shoulder to shoulder and it was quite loud. The showers are meant to be used quickly, which wasn't very nice, but they were clean. The rooms were clean, and comfortable. It was fine, and most people staying there seemed to be enjoying it.

A great place for someone traveling alone to meet people. There is a party every night at the very cool bar. The rooms are well, rooms. Overall, a great and easy place to meet people and party, if that is what you would like to do. The location is great. Overall a great stay and a nice place to mingle.

This hostel has a really good set up for meeting other travellers....a cool pub and a common room with a TV...felt homey and comfy. I thought the front of house and bar staff were really nice and helpful. They cook a good dinner...3 or 4 choices and big portions.

The rooms were nice, spacious and with sinks. My only complaint with the rooms is the lack of bedside lights, the bunk beds were low so the person on the bottom bunk couldn't sit up on their bed, and the blanket were too thin and not warm enough.

The showers are coin operated...you get a token for a 6minute shower which I personally prefer over trying to shampoo my hair with one hand while holding in a push button with the other. The showers were clean, the water hot, and water pressure good. 6 minutes is enough time to shampoo, condition, shave legs and still have time to stand under the hot water for a minute..you just got to have a plan!

It is a 5 minute walk from the train station in a nice quiet neighbourhood...a 10 minute walk from the town center...very nice walk through some pretty parks so I didn't mind it. There are cheap internet places near by and a big grocery store by the train station.

If you want to mingle with other travellers and meet people, stay here, you will have a blast..the social atmosphere makes up for its other short-comings...if you're not into socializing and just want a clean quiet place to sleep you can probably find better elsewhere.
