The thing is, unless you have no shame and/or have been travelling for a while, you would not be willing to strip in front of everyone in the bathroom. So youput your coin in the machine, run to the shower, stirp and turn the water on, adjust the temperature and by this stage, you have 4 and a half minutes left of the hot water. And what do you do when the water runs out, run out naked, and wet with bubbles in your eyes and put another coin in or just take a cold shower? That really annoyed me but apart from that, the place was cool. Nothing special or homey like they claim but nice enough with comfy beds, clean bar/kitchen area and semi-nice reception people. The dinner was pretty good as well. It's weird, I can't find any thing that was "wrong" apart from the shower but I just didn't really like this place for some reason. It lacks character......

This place is very very friendly. It is central and easy to find, they do great bacon butties for all you homesick travellers - bacon is something you will miss (apart from you veggie fags) and the bar is good at night. Have fun.

This is a very nice hostel, very easy to find, as their propaganda says... the front desk people are not very nice, but the rest of the staff (bar and kitchen people) are great. The bar is good, I've been in better... the plus is the music and the atmosphere. But, what were they thinking with the shower tokens!!! 6 minutes to shower? really hard. By the way, in the girls showers, the last one doesn't run out of hot water... It is really near the train station, and from a 5 minute walk to the historic places... It's not an expensive place, so if you are thinking to go... that's the place...

The YoHo was a fun hostel to stay. Rooms are clean, but the showers are coin operated, the hostel does supply the coin for 1 shower (50 cents) and the showers are hot and powerful. The bar and common area are great for meeting fellow backpackers, with a happy hour nightly with cheap beer. They also serve a pretty good dinner for a cheap price. Walking distance to everything in Salzburg.

The YoHo is a good hostel. The bar is fun and a good place to meet people but not what you would call cheap. The bar also offers a rare non-smoking section. The dinner is a great value considering the prices elsewhere in Salzburg. The rooms are average and I'm not a fan of the showers but they worked and had hot water. This is one of those places that most guests spend the evening at because of the atmosphere.

I had a good time at the YoHo, but the hostel was not quite as good as it was billed to be. There's a party atmosphere on a night, and I met some pretty cool people there. The rooms are fine, and the place clean enough. On the downside, the bar is too small when its busy, the staff aren't always the most friendly, the showers cost money, and the meals don't offer much choice. But, if you are a seasoned traveller just looking for a bit of fun, you'll be well at home. I'd stay there if I went back to Salzburg.

I don't think this is the place to go if you are tired, and looking for the simple luxury of a bed for the night. The bar's great - no expense spared - but the rest leaves something to be desired! The showers are god-awful, dirty, and you have to put a 50 Euro Cent coin into the machine to make it work. Unfortunately the coin slot is OUTSIDE the showers, so you might have to run out in the scud!Oh, and a "double" room means one bed! This is a mistake no-one else should have to make, 'cos those floors aren't very comfortable...

As this was our last stop and there were four of us, we upgraded from a dorm to a quad and paid a bit extra. The rooms were simple, not spotlessly clean but acceptable and lockable. It is a short walk from the station and accessible to some of the main areas in town. The staff are great at booking some different tours for you and they pick you up from the door of the hostel. But check out alternatives before paying for pricey tours. We got to the Salt Mines ourselves, cheaper. The showers are as everyone else has said. Not the best, average as far as hostels go.They provide meals at a price, there is never enough room in the bar and is still going into the wee hours of the morning. It is a great place to meet people.Large lockers come at a price as does the internet. But both are reasonable. No curfew. Its a busy place, great to go if you are travelling alone as there is always someone new to speak to!

this hostel was definatly not the best i have ever stayed at, but it was okay. the kitchen and bar are really good (they have a fun quiz night every saturday night),and the people who come there are a lot of fun. the rooms were okay, a little dirty, but they give you clean sheets, and it´s not that bad. the showers were a big pain, you had to use tokens (they don´t tell you, but 50 cent pieces work just fine, you don´t need to spend a whole euro buying extra tokens), and the token slot was outside the shower, so you had to think of creative ways to get in and out to put more time in the shower (also ways to keep your things from getting soaked). however they organize tours, they show The Sound of Music every day, and they give maps and other help upon request.

My boyfriend and I travelled through Europe in December last year, staying mainly in budget hotels. But at this hostel we enjoyed meeting the other travellers over dinner - which quickly turned into drinks (for a quite a few hours!!) We had one of the most memorable nights of the whole trip. Because the bar is downstairs - there didn't seem to be a noise problem. It was clean enough, food and location were good. The only downside was the staff (a bit rude) and the shower tokens.
