this place was in a really good location. it was very modern and busy (mostly school groups). the staff were friendly and you could watch sound of music in the evenings! (ps the sound of music tour was a bit of a rip off)

The hostel itself was quite nice. However, I was there on a night when a huge number of school kids were also staying on my floor, shrieking and laughing - including in the bathroom right next to my room - for a very long time. While there was a policy for guests to keep quiet after 10pm, the noise level on that night was unbearable.

We stayed 3 nights at this hostel in July and really enjoyed our stay. The hostel is conveniently located and offers cheap, fast internet access and a laundry. They also serve reasonably priced snacks and the breakfast (included in the price) was excellent. Rooms were basic but clean and the private rooms were particularly good value. Great place to stay in a fantastic city.

We found this place noisy (much worse than your average hostel) with what appeared to be at least 100 teenagers running around unsupervised. We had a guy sleeping in female dorm, the bathrooms weren't the greatest either; no room to keep towels or anything dry and the showers were not very clean either. The only highlight was the buffet breakfast which was fantastic. Good luck trying to watch the Sound of Music over the noise and horrible children.

It was actually not too bad for my first hostel. A lot of young people i found, but did end up meeting some cool American boys from Texas. Very close to the city.....you only need to use the bus if you want to get to the train station. Clean rooms as well!

Lovely and helpful staff. We turned up late with no booking, but they found rooms for us, much relief to me. 5minute walk from centre. Wooden beds which added touch of culture. Big breakfast included, plus a bar and a happy hour (hurrah) Possibly the best thing about the hostel was that they organised Sound of muic tours for you and played the film every night. Evenings with a beer and a pizza were sorted!

We stayed for one night in a double room with attached bathroom in the end of May. I have to say that overall I like this place.

It is easy to travel. From the train station, you can get to their hostel by 15-minute bus and then 5-minute walk. It's really close to some of the attractions since it's in the old town. 10-minute walking to the old town and to the starting piont for the famous castle. In the evening, we walked along the river and easily found our way back to the hostel.

Our room is very clean. The room is also quite spacious, comparing to the standard of hotel/hostel room size in Europe. Besides that, the breakfast is great and rich. Also there is pre-paid Internet points (starting at Euro 2.6) in the hostel.

The only drawback, if I had to point out one, is there are many kids playing around inside the hostel making the environment a bit noisy. We understood that it's during a school holiday period. Anyway, the hostel became very quiet after 11pm.

The best thing about this hostel was how close it is to the old town, i went out every evening for a wander around and found the odd mozart concert on for free. There sound of music tours was great fun, especially the tobogan ride, saw some beautiful parts of austria on this tour its a great way to get out of the cities. Salzburg is easy to find your way about and is a really beautiful city.

This hostel has an excellent location, very clean rooms (at least it was the case with mine) and great breakfast. The reception staff though looked a bit overwhelmed and sometimes couldn´t handle the flow of people checking in, asking for info and waiting to be served on the bar.

One thing really pissed me off: they have a deal with a company called Sightseeing Tours and offer a 40 euro day-trip do the Durnnberg saltmines. But this exactly same trip is available for 21 euros with OBB - which runs the trains in Austria - including the train ticket between Salzburg and Hallein, local bus between Hallein and Durnnberg and entrance ticket to the mines - all with a convenient timetable. I didn´t know that and when I asked at the reception if it was possible to go by myself the answer was: "Yes, but it is very complicated". I tried it anyway with OBB and it worked just fine.
