My 7 friends and I stayed here Feb. 2004. We had a mixed group of guys and girls and they allowed us to stay together. I liked this place, even though I payed a little bit more than the other hostels. It was worth it to not have to pay for taxis. It was in good walking distance from the Grand Place, shops, restaurants, and train station. I felt safe (but I wouldn't advise walking alone at night) and the staff was really nice and patient with us. They answered all our questions we had about Brussels. The showers did kinda suck with you having to keep on pushing the button and it trickling out. The place was pretty clean, even though there was writing all over the walls near the beds. The beer in the karaoke lounge was damm cheap!!! Otherwise, I don't know what the other people were complaing about!

I really liked this place. It is really nice and I meet alot of people from many different countries. The entire place was very clean. The only thing I did not like was the showers. You had to hold down a button the entire time to get any water out. It it sort of trickled down the wall. Otherwise everything else was good. It was a short walk to some shops and cafes.

There are lots of worse hostels in Europe. However I find it entertaining that one review will compare it to a 4 star luxury hotel and another will find it nearly unacceptable. I haven't stayed there since 1986 so I can't offer a current, objective review. But I must say that the staff I encountered then were not particularly well behaved.

I was going to stay at the Centre Vincent Van Gogh, but it was impossible to find it, so I stayed at the Sleep Well. Staff wasn`t really welcoming, the guy didn`t speak english and hardly any french... There`s a lockout during the day, but they don`t mention it! The rooms are ok, but their breakfast is poor. Altoghther I thought the price was too high.I didn`t like Bruxelles at all, it didn`t seem safe to me, in fact, it was the only place in Europe where I felt uncomfortable walking around on my own, even during the day. The city is dirty and unfriendly.

I stayed in September. Rooms quite clean and safe. Didnt like the lockout from 11-3. Showers were dangerously hot - almost scalded and in the toilets, one cubicle had no light and the other had no toilet roll - this was the same in 2 toilets! Breakfast was quite nice. Check in took ages as the guy was answering the phone as well. We paid for a map but the information centre do a much better one for free. Good location, Brussels is a beautiful city.

i had the same feeling regarding the unfriendly staff and the place it 's cold it has no charm. The rooms are ok and from outside it looks modern but there's a lot of weird guys in the surrounding at night. We saw the manager once and told him about the way we 've been welcomed . He even did not want to listen What a pr***!

The location is good, but a little remote and in a commerical area. When we arrived on Sunday the surrounding area was deserted and to tell the truth, a little scary for two female travelers. Its about a 15 minute walk to the Grand Place. The room was clean and had a sink. Our window was broken, so it never completely shut. Thank goodness for nice weather although it was a little warm in our room. The bathrooms were okay. Of course, they were the "press the button for 30 seconds of water" variety. There was a large group of younger visitors below us during our stay who made a lot of racket. It sounded as if they were dancing on their ceiling (our floor) most of the night. The staff was the most unfriendly we encountered in Europe. They gave vague directions and made fun of us when we could not pronounce street names correctly. They were slow and acted as if we bothered them with our inquiries.I must add- we took a peak in on the construction of their new wing and it did look very nice!

Made the booking over the phone with price and details given. When we got there we paid 18.50 not 17.50. baggage is put in storage until 3pm. Gustav ,a tour operator was loitering the lobby to get peolpe to go on his tours. Very chatty so chatty in fact he told us of a girl who was rapped in her room and another who had their money and stuff stolen. Another couple who we were chatting to said they were bitten by bed bugs this is before we even got to our room. Not good PR for the hotel. That night we got back around 11pm to find that we could not get into our room on the 5th floor the key card would not open the door. After the key card was fixed, no towels or soap. Oh I got the info wrong. No help mind you. I can buy towels for 3.70 euro. Used the sheet. The room was as hot as hell and paranoia set in for a sleepless night. No we did not sleepwell. Next morn a vandal had a real good time buy smashing car windows on the street. Thats probaly the rapist or maybe a frustrated guest. My verdict do not go to brussels go to Bruge much prettier and less hassel.
