well, it looks like a 4 stars...and indeed, where are the young people?

Boring music, boring food, boring people....you would feel better if you wear your suit and tie.

The bar is awful :-(((

I booked this hostel after CHAB turned me away due to my age not being 17, or 18, they kept on changing their minds. I must of confused them with the booking because they gave me the impression that me and my girlfriend could have a quad room, but then on arrival they split us up into a quad for me and a dorm of 8 beds for her. Which was unexpected. The staff were not exactly cheeful about it. There was a mob of Brits in that created heaps of noise until about 4 am, which made sleeping even harder, as the rooms were really hot. The showers were ok, a bit small. Toilets good. Breakfast wasn't very appitising. The sitting down area really stinks of cigarette smoke, not very nice for non-smoker to sit in. And bring a towl, they one they sell is tiny and a complete rip-off. But all round ok. Close to everything you need, priced good. I suppose I would recommend it.

My friend and myself tried to book a double room in the hostel via email. We received an email reply saying that we could have both requested nights and to let them know if we wanted the booking. We replied that we did, but received no reply after that. We phoned to confirm the booking, but alas there was no booking in our names and no record of email correspondence. Not impressed. Four days later we received an email from the hostel saying that they found the email, but now they were booked out and we could not stay.

After reading the reviews I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this hostel.

The whole place was very clean and new looking. Showers were nice, beds were comfortable. Breakfast was cold cereal (corn flakes only), orange juice and bread with jam. It was as much as you wanted to eat.

In the evening there is a bar with a nice selection of Belgian beer. It is not expensive, about 1.30 for a .25 bottle.

The location is the metro stop Rogier. I have stayed in Brussels many times previously and this is a very good location. If you know how to walk, you can get right in the center in about 10 minutes walking. Several of the best hotels in Brussels are located at this stop as well (the big Sheraton hotel is there). It is a safe area of the city. If you go out at night though, you should walk towards the center and not towards the North train station.

One complaint is that there were some tour groups staying there. So although you had some 20-30s people you also had some older people. This takes away a bit from the typical hostel atmosphere.

I have stayed in Sleep Well three times now and it would be my hostel of choice in Brussels. I've always stayed in a double or a triple with friends here, which is handy, as you don't need to worry so much about your stuff.

It's quite central, basically between Grand Place and the North Station, and is very near to Rogier metro. You wouldn't need to get the Metro to Grand Place, however, it's only a 10-15 minute walk (turn left and go straight after coming out the front door) and I don't think the area is all that bad. The North Station is around 5-10 minutes. I've stayed in CHAB as well, which is also good (a bit more like a hostel) but a bit further away to the north-east.

Double check reservations - the first time we stayed here, they forgot to type the credit card into their system with the result that when we arrived (at midnight) we found that they had given our room away. Adolphe, one of the staff, was very good to let us stay in his room for free for that night and sorted out a room in CHAB for the following night.

We have had the usual disturbances - a noisy school group whizzing around the corridors (playing hide and seek), someone sick on the stairs (was cleaned up quickly), but in this regard Sleep Well is in no worse than any other hostel and better than most.

Showers are good: warm at any time, last long enough when you push the button, well designed so you don't have to get your clothes wet, and I have never had to queue. Toilets are clean. Breakfast is nothing special, like every other hostel in the world.

They are very strict on time in this hostel. If you don't get down before nine for breakfast, forget it - a poor girl who tried to plug back in the coffee machine at 9.01am was roundly lambasted by the guy running the kitchen. And one of my friends was foolish enough to rise at 10.45am and expect to have a shower before the 11am lockout. He was on the top floor, which doesn't have a shower, so had to go to the floor below. Access to the floors (and the rooms) is controlled by a card system, which automatically stops working at 11am - so he had to troop down to reception dripping wet in his towel and beg to be let back in to his room.

All in all, thoroughly recommended if you want somewhere to stay that is central, reasonably priced, and clean.

I was just there a few days ago and had also stayed last year as well. The staff is not enitrely rude, they are just not kiss ass nice like people may be used to in the states.

The hostel is very close to Rogier Metro station which is 2 stops from the station that is close to the Grand 'Place.

Definitely a good place to stay and the staff are very helpful. They just remodeled the front desk and the staff is new from last year;which is good since the staff last year were very rude and not very helpful.

I stayed here in summer 2001. The rooms were clean and the bathrooms/showers were reasonable. The bar staff were friendly however the check-in staff were breathtakingly rude. Overall I found it pretty good for the price.

Don't let one persons screw-up dissuade you from staying here. The rooms are very nice, easy to find, and it's in a safe area of town. The have safe baggage storage for 50 euro cents a day, and they provide a good menu for food. Being open 24 hours is very nice, and there are many many restrooms and showers so there is never a line. They provide all the ammenities expected of a youth hostal, and they're cheap. They even discount your price if you stay more than one night. No complaints here.

This hostel is HORRIBLE. I was fooled by their website into thinking that this would be a nice place to stay so I faxed my reservation form (including my credit card info) requesting two nights lodging in May 2002. They were booked full for the nights I wanted to stay so I ended up staying somewhere else. However, when I returned home, I was shocked to see that they had actually charged my credit card for two nights stay. Of course, I immediately emailed the hostel asking them politely to remove the charge. They never responded to my first email nor have they responded to any of my subsequent emails. Finally, I had to go through my credit card company to have the charge removed. This is completely outrageous: I stayed at 14 different hostels during my trip around Europe, and some of them might not have been the cleanest or most comfortable, but at least none of them cheated me. By the way, I walked past the Sleep Well Hostel when I going to the City2 mall, and it looks nothing like it does on the website. It is located on this dingy little side street, which is somehow befitting of its lousiness. So, if you truly want to sleep well I would advise you to stay as far away from the Sleep Well Hostel as possible.
