I stayed at this hostel in 1992, 1995, 1996, 1999 and 2001. It hasn't changed. Fantastic place to meet people and set out on walking trips around Brussells. My most memorable time here was in 1992 when a group of us got rolling drunk on a selection of Belgian beer in one of the common areas. Pity some people have been soured. I have never had a bad experience in my 5 stays, and will always stay at the Sleep Well whilst in Brussels and will always recommend it!

I didn't even get to stay at this hostel because their lousy service frustrated me to the point that I cancelled the reservation before going there. I sent a really clear fax detailing the type of accommodation we wanted to have at Sleepwell - and then they reserved a double room for us (which was way outside of our budget). When I asked for a correction, they again reserved the wrong type of accommodation for us. When I asked that the error be fixed, no one would respond to my e-mails. Argh. Don't give this establishment your business.

The Sleep Well hostel is the best hostel I've stayed at in Europe and is a great value. It is in a good location, and is as nice as a decent hotel. The rooms are clean, bright, well-kept, and have private showers (though not always hot). Generally immaculate compared with other hostels. I really did Sleep Well.It is almost completely new and has a big open space so you are never cramped. The lounge is okay, and it has its' own bar and restaurant. Breakfast is good, and they also serve lunch and dinner, though when we had dinner we were the only ones there, which was too bad. (Breakfast had lots of people)Retired Gustave gives an intersting walking tour every morning from the hostel, which is great because it is personalized.

My husband and I stayed here in May 2001, had our own room and thought it was a great place. The showers were incredible - hot, power shower and very clean (toilets as well). Good, central location and the staff were very nice to us the whole time. We never woke up in time for breakfast and didn't try the bar (too many others in Brussels), but the whole place was very clean and we would definitely go back. The person from Minn must have got them on a bad day.

I really disliked this hostel - mostly based on how I was treated by the staff when I entered. She must have had a bad day because she was determined to make me cry - yes, after backpacking for 3 1/2 months and facing several American hating individuals SHE made me cry. TEARS, i guess that I was too busy crying and feeling sorry for myself to notice any of the good things anyone else had to say. I wasn't the only person who hated this hostel, just the only one who's logged onto this page - stay at CHAB instead.

this was one of my favorite hostels in europe. it was super clean, hot showers, friendly atmosphere. its location was the closest to center city of any hostels in town. the breakfast was decent, and had a great common room and bar. i highly recommend it!
