My friend and I stayed in the dorms here, and they did seem to try to squeeze as many beds as they could into the room. The other reviewers were right, the room did get cold (I guess we weren't the only ones to snatch blankets from empty beds!) and the bathrooms weren't the greatest. The showers were the kind where you have to keep pushing a button to keep it from turning itself off and the hot water ran out when I was in the middle!I'm making it sound horrible, when it really wasn't. The people who worked there were really friendly and laid back. Yes, the place was a little shabby, but in a cozy sort of way. It's in a nice location and we had a really good time there. I'd definately go back!

The hostel was generally good, and I argee with most of what has been mentioned below. The staff were good, and generally the place was in good shape, and located in a convenient area. The showers were on the dirty side and the beds have no linen either on them or supplied by the staff... maybe one too many people got ahead of themselves with the incredible beer - yes, plastic/rubber sheets on the beds! Thankfully not all the beds were occupied, so I was able to score a few extra blankets to sleep between. They were also needed due to the lack of heating. Generally I was happy with the place though.

The hostel is in a great location just a short walk from the central square in Bruges. The staff were pretty friendly and the bar is great value - giving you the chance to sample a good variety of Belgian beers without parting with too many Euros. The rooms are not terribly comfortable however. A lot of bunks crammed into the small space, though it seemed reasonably clean. The showers were less so however. Not nearly clean enough, and not enough of them. The lockers on the plus side were of a good size. This place is good but could so easily be better. Maybe they'll be up a star by next season. Bruges on the other hand is a gem!

This hostel is in a good location: fairly quiet but close to the main square. It is not far from the main station and is within walking distance (though it'd be wiser to catch a bus). The dorms here are quite nice: spacious, clean with decent bunk beds. However, in the winter, it is fairly cold in the dorms. The heater was not strong at all, forcing us to either use an extra blanket or a sleeping bag. The toilets and showers here are fairly average. The dorms have no locks but there are large lockers outside the rooms that can be used to store backpacks, etc. The breakfast here is very basic and is not free. However the bar here is incredible, selling over 30 different beers (I think). It is also one of the cheapest places to drink (even some locals come down for the cheap prices).

This hostel had a great location and was quite cheap to stay however the showers were not the best and the staircase was sooo steep and narrow that it was difficult to carry a heavy backpack up. The dorms have no key and the mattresses are covered in plastic so they stick to your skin. Despite this it was a cute place with a great bar and cooking facilities. Defintetly not the worse place i have been.

I stayed here for three nights...it was OK, but still one of the poorer hostels I have stayed in. The location is great, just minutes from the main square, staff are friendly, and the bar is fantastic. My main gripe is the showers...you can get up to 15 people waiting for one bathroom/shower. The bathrooms here also get quite disgusting...one of the worst I have seen in any hostel. Remember your flip-flops or other shower footwear.

I really recommend that hostel to anyone planning to visit Bruges. It is five minutes away from the main square and there is a bus right in front taking you to the train station. The rooms are pretty packed but still comfortable. There is a great pub downstairs with a little terrace where you are guaranteed to find great people to chat with. The kitchen is complete and there is a laundrette right next door. Where I was there I went out to sample belgian beer with a big group of about 15 travellers I met in the pub - we really had a fab time.

coming from the bauhaus international, this place was great. it had a great bar (there was a free concert with cheap beer the first night i was there) and locked doors (remember to pick up the combination every morning because they change it every day). the rooms were large, clean and recently painted. there was only one shower which everyone fought over, but it was a good shower. i met lots of people in the bar. the staff was nice and helpful, there was a decent kitchen, a laundrymat nearby. it was a good place to stay and no curfew or lockout.

Man, this place was a riot. I was here in the dead of winter and the rooms were so cold my roommates and I had to steal blankets from the other beds just to stay moderately warm. Bathrooms are pretty dirty and rooms have creaking floors and peeling paint. The mattresses appear to be covered with plastic bags that make lound plasticky sounds when you roll over. On the flip side, you can bond with your fellow hostelers on just how seedy this place is--a guarantee of good conversations in the bar downstairs.
