This hostel has become my 2nd home, even better. It's the place I want to come back to after travelling elsewhere. The staff are all so friendly, the beds are great, the kitchen has everything you need, and the whole place is clean. I've met some great people and picked up good travel info. The hostel has its own web site that says what I don't need to: www.ravnice-youth-hostel.hr and bookings can be made by email: ravnice-youth-hostel@zg.hinet.hr; or by telephone.

Although a little hard to find, the Ravince Hostel offers warm hospitality as well as comfortable, clean accomodations. Just a short walk to the tram, or a slightly longer walk to downtown Zagreb.

Although I have only stayed in a handful, the Ravnice youth hostel is nonetheless my favourite. I stayed here in April 2003 for just 1 night. A dorm bed cost 99kn and this included sheets but not breakfast. There is no curfew, no lockout, internet access, tv, a good kitchen and you can do your washing their for 15 kn.The hostel itself is clean, spacious and comfortable and the beds are big with only 2 bunk beds in my 'dormitory'. Most importantly, the staff are friendly and go out of their way to help you. I forgot about my washing and came down to find it had already been hung on the line!!This hostel is definitely worth the tram ride out and I can't praise it enough.

I spent 2 nights in Ravnice in October 2002. I paid 99Kn per night in a 4-bed-room. The hostel is fantastic, clean, modern, comfortable (tv, kitchen) and very quiet. People at reception are so friendly! The only drawback is that it is not located in the city centre, but you'll reach the town very easily with the tram in about 20 minutes, and as the city centre is "quite" polluted, that's not so bad :)

Like everyone else it seems, I came to Ravnice after struggling through two nights at Omladinski. It was very clean and comfortable not to mention the best shower I had in a month of travelling through Eastern Europe. The staff were very friendly and although its a fair distance from the city centre, Zagrebs excellent tram system means you can get to/from the hostel easily. The only drawback for me was for the vast majority of my three day stay here (April 2002), I was the only one staying!PS. If anyone sees any Morrissey tapes around, I gave them to the young pretty girl who works there!

When you arrive at this hostel, you immediately feel like at home: the receptionists are very friendly and the building is pretty. Then you go into your room and you see that it is very clean and comfortable. It is also cheap: 85Kn are about 15 euro at May, 2002. The tram stop is 200 metres far from the hostel, and you can get to the centre of the city in 20 minutes. In Zagreb there are few road signs, so it's a bit difficult to get to Ravnice: it's in the east of the city, close to the Dinamo stadium. If you pass through Croatia, visit Zagreb and go to Ravnice Youth Hostel!

I was very frightened upon arriving in Zagreb, thinking the only option was this Omladinski hell-hole everyone's been complaining about. Fortunately, after going there and being scoffed at by the old bastard that runs the place, I discovered the other option available to backpackers in Zagreb--Hostel Ravnice. I can't say enough good things about the place: clean, friendly, safe, convenient, etc. The hostel is run by the most kind and caring woman in all of Croatia who will go to great lengths to ensure that your stay in Zagreb is a pleasant one. The hostel in brand-new and kept immaculately clean. The only downside is the lack of lockers, but with such a friendly atmosphere and a relaxed location outside the bustle of the city, this wasn't much of a problem. Yes, the hostle is outside of the center, but it's very easy to get back and forth, as a tram runs from just down the block ever 10 or 15 minutes directly to the main square in town. This hostel was honestly one of the best I've stayed in. I made some great friends here, and in fact ended up spending so much time here that I ran out of time before even being able to see the rest of Croatia! So, I will return this summer to see the coast and everything--but I'll DEFINITELY have to make another stop in Zagreb to visit the folks at Ravnice Youth Hostel! Reservations can be made by email. PS. the hostel is located right next to a giant chocolate factory--yum...
