A hostel with high standards as well as character. Rooms all have names and great décor. Breakfast not included but very good. Location pretty good, though need to take transport (which runs into the night) I was travelling alone but quickly met lots of people and went out with them.

Out of all the hostels we stayed in over our 5 week trip, this was probably my favourite. Its a really nice building, modern, clean, new looking. Theres a great kitchen, a really cool bar that serves breakfast and stupidly cheap drinks, the bedrooms are great. Security is not a prob, theres lockers and even little bedside lockers and all the doors have locks on and stuff. I wouldnt have said the area was dangerous, a little quiet and out of the way, but its nice to get away from the busy tourist areas. Theres also a mean pizzeria next door which is cheap too and serves good food. The only bad thing is the fact that you need to take a taxi or tram everywhere you go, but the coolness of the hostel makes up for that.

I had a single room for 3 nights, and it was a great place to stay. My room was clean and quiet, with a decent bed and small table and chairs. A bit far from the city center, but money wise it's better out of the tourist areas since things like restaurants or other necessities tend to be cheaper. Plus it's super easy to get around on the public transportation.

Everyone was nice and talkative, the bar sells cheap food, most of the staff was really helpful, and the hostel had a really good vibe. The map and info. booklet you get upon check really helps out as well. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

I stayed at this hostel for a week and I really had a great time. It is clean, safe and quiet. It is pretty well located and staff is very helpful. It's 15 minutes from the centre, but very well located. There's a grocery store at the corner and there's always a place nearby to buy some food or some beer!!! If there's a place you should stay in Prague it is THERE!!!

If I go to Prague again, I may try out one of the others for variety. There was a very distinct vibe in this place -- it wasn't a bad vibe, but it wasn't absolutely my thing; about half of the people there seemed to be in the process of moving in, and it seemed like every night I'd wind up in a political or religious 'heated discussion' of some sort with somebody!

Also, they kept the heater on WAY too high, and forgot to record my key deposit. But, to their credit, they sorted that out and gave me my deposit back after a few minutes of confusion. :-)

And all that's not to disparage the place. The kitchen facility, in the basement, is great; there are lockers both for while you're sleeping there and for the day you check out (bring your own lock). In the afternoon, someone's always cooking up something sweet and communal, and for dinner you can make pasta and have lively discussions with the other travellers, sharing tips and tricks. The showers, though there's no place to set your shampoo, are easily adjustable, with good warmth and pressure. The place is pretty & spotless all around, there are enough bathrooms, and they'll even help you get your bag up the stairs and advise you on getting around town. And net access is FREE!

My friend and I arrived at Sir Toby's in Prague at the end of November 2003. We were planning on staying in Prague for about a week...we ended up staying for over a month!!

Sir Toby's will not dissapoint you. We fell in love with the place. The very best thing about the hostel is the staff. They are soo much fun and extremely helpful.

This hostel is very clean with lots of hot water and very clean and comfortable beds (very few bunks...mostly singles..which is nice).

They have a real kitchen - as opposed to other hostels who have just a fridge or a sink...Sir Toby's has the works.

The basement is BEAUTIFUL! The whole hostel is new and pretty.

It takes only 10 or 12 mins to get downtown on the tram. This hostel is in a great area with many cheap restaurants, bars, and grocery stores around the corner...a really great neighbourhood.

If you want to have a great time and stay at a great hostel this is the one for you. I loved it!!!

I stayed here last weekend; I booked for a dorm. It turned out to be a huge 5 person female dorm on the third floor. The room was big, and the bathroom was attached to it. We had to share those facilitities with our neighbours (another dorm). Since there was only one shower for about 12 people, I had to wait a long time before it was available. But the rest was great. The kitchen was big and clean, and there's a fridge you can use and all that. There's also a common room in the basement and you can store your luggage for free in lockers. There's also a garden. What I liked most was the size of the hostel: no crampy common room or packed dorms!

Location is good, just outside the center, nice neighbourhood, supermarket and tramstop nextdoor.

We stayed at Sir Tobys this summer and loved it. Most of the staff are excellent and are really helpful. The kitchen is kind of small and doesn't have all that much equipment but with the good, cheap restaurants nearby, this is your chance to give up on the self-catering for a few nights - ask the hostel staff for a recommendation. The hostel wasn't far from town at all and tram costs are dirt cheap so why walk? Book early though - we tried to book a double room initially, 2 months before we wanted to stay, and they didn't have any left. The dorms though were good - clean and recently renovated.

Although this hostel is a bit outside of the city centre, this hostel is very good. There are trams to take you into the city, and they are cheap and very close to the hostel. There are amenities nearby to the hostel as well. The beds are comfy, the showers are hot, and the bathrooms are clean, and that's all that I need. There is also lockers to store your stuff if you need them, and the staff are quite friendly. There wasn't any problems with noise levels, and there is a nice garden out back. I would firstly recommend that every backpacker goes to Prague and secondly I would recommend that they stay at Sir Toby's.

We booked a room for the 5 of us in a group. For the first two nights we had 2 WCs and 2 showers all to ourselves which was very useful. For some reason there was an old grand piano in our room which was very useful for drying towels on.

We were a bit worried that the hostel was a bit out of town but the tram stop is close by and taxis back in the early hours of the morning were fairly inexpensive.

There did not seem to be much of a centre to the place and the kitchen was quite small but all in all this is a great place to stay if you visit Prague.
